I prefer to refer to it as 'patina'.

More often seen at Subaru dealerships than Toyota ones though.

Oh you have no idea how easy it is to burn a house down if an owner neglects to maintain it properly. At least a car with issues you can see... some houses are not kept well and staying in there is a ticking time bomb if you do the wrong things.

The point is, both these things offer blanket insurance for the owner, so there's no issue in case of neglect on behalf of the renter.

I also doubt many people buy niche cars (86/frs/brz) then wonder if they should've bought a camry. I challenge you to go into any subaru/toyota dealership, show interest in the 86/brz or even an sti, then talk to a sales rep and see what they say about people who come in looking for those cars. They aren't on the fence about wanting them, they know they want them, the only thing they are on the fence about is if they can afford them.

You coming here asking to borrow someones car for a week because you aren't sure about the car, means you just don't want the car. By all means, prove me wrong and go and buy one, but surely you can't be so blind and see that what you're asking is like walking backwards-upwards on a down escalator.
Well, like I said a lot of this is subjective so it comes down to each person's perspective.

To clarify, the other car in consideration isn't a Camry it's an ND Miata :P

I'm comfortable coming to an FRS/86/BRZ enthusiast forum asking this question. It's a community of car enthusiasts of these specific cars, so who better to ask!

Like I said before I certainly respect your opinion, but I don't agree with it. Different strokes and all

It's too bad Toyota/Scion stopped their "Test Drive" auto-x events. That was a great way to let prospective owners push these cars on a closed course.

I get where OP is coming from, but like others I doubt there will be many owners willing to offer up their cars.

So as it turns out, I'm heading down to Sterling tomorrow morning. If you're close, I can certainly let you look at it, maybe go for a ride in it, but there ain't no way I'm ever going to let you borrow it! So don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad.

I can dig that! What time works best for you? I work right in McLean, so Sterling is super close. I know a good road in Great Falls, off Georgetown Pike.
