While I don't understand the OP's reasoning or need to add insult (to the autos) to his negative review (I got nothing wrong with it) there is no need to turn this into a hate thread that you see all the time
Especially the new members pretty sure you guys would like it if all of us harassed you on any noob questions you may have for 6 pages. Online boards are here to share opinions and help one another. relax guys! subatoy has been here and posting for awhile now. I'm pretty sure he was excited for his car but it didn't match his style of driving or style of car.

All of this can be solved with boost
![]() I had a modded Nismo 370 and a new Camaro SS. Both had "balls". I love drifting, and I love fun, but it definitely needs the balls. Once a kit is available I will be boosting this car. If either the FR-S or the BRZ came out with a turbocharged version then it would be near impossible to buy one. I personally have been waiting for a turbocharged, RWD, lightweight, good MPG, decent backseated, good trunk, all around car for sooooo many years now. I finally had to settle with this and will simply just boost it. Sure it'll destroy the warranty but it can't be worse than the insurance/maintenance of my 370. |

Yeah boosting a 12:1 ratio engine is gonna be super fabulous. I cant wait because then once i blow it up i can upgrade the valve springs and ring sets and forged pistons and then do the smart thing and lower the compression. Unless of course i leave the stock 12:1 ratio and run a moddest 7psi in which case the power gain would hardly be worth the cost.
Nevermind this is all just so confusing ill just be thankful for what subie engineered for us. If i ever end up getting to greedy i wont complain about it. Ill just buy a wrx or some other turbo application that was meant to be turboed |

I think changing the title to "Fun but Slow" might have eased some tension.
![]() IMO it should have a little more power, especially on the track, but I wouldn't have called it slow for the street. The FRS isn't the perfect car, and it won't ever be everything to all people. I think it hurts people to understand that, since there's really no new alternative to it. |

The OP just needs a little perspective...these are "Slow"...
http://www.car-times.com/Slowest-0-60.php You're living in fortunate times (Car performance-wise)...have a little appreciation for it... Some more good reading... http://autos.yahoo.com/news/the-ten-....html?page=all and some of these are almost hard to believe...0-60 in 75 seconds?!?!? http://www.0-60times.com/slowest.asp We're so spoiled.... |

I don't think it's slow at all. There was an old lady on one of those mobility scooters and I absolutely walked her when the light turned green. I had to wait at the next light to giver her a thumbs up for the race, but she looked at me kinda strange and then waved her cane in my direction. I don't advocate racing at all, but I swear she revved that scooter at me thinking she could take me so she had it coming....

It's all about understanding what the FT86/GT96/FRS/BRZ is and why, and appreciating it for that. If it's not your thing, that's cool. If it is, that's cool too. People are really funny. It's like hearing this great review about some new apple that's been developed, running out and buying one, and then complaining it's not as sweet as a peach, as juicy as a pear, or as satisfying as a banana even thought they're all fruit.

Nice toll attempt, but nah I'm not mad at all - because I would never consider buying a Hyundai genesis ever.
This review sums up my beef with the Hyundai. Quote:

FWIW, the OP has a point at least where I live at 5500ft above sea level where NA cars make 20% less power. I've owned two Miatas, Z06, Turbo and NA MR2s, Genesis Coupe 3.8, etc so I can appreciate something that has torque and things that have handling and things that have both. The problem with the FRS manual I drove is it was really slow in the summer with the AC on and two of us in the car. Now, because I'm not that close to buying I didn't rev past 4500rpm so I know there is more power but if the car made 200ft/lbs of torque would make a huge difference here at altitude. It's not much fun to rev the crap out of a car just to pass a minivan that doesn't even know you are trying to do so. So while I agree you don't buy this car for straight line performance, it not like it completely doesn't matter in daily use.

I can definitely see at altitude how things would be affected, and where having some forced induction might be very helpful.
It's not a super fast car and the auto is not going to help anything. I'm at around 1000ft generally and at 65 on the highway I don't have to say downshift to 5th to pass someone... I still like it and I wouldn't trade my BRZ for a WRX (which I've owned many), a 370z, a Miata, a Genesis coupe, etc. I've driven all of those cars and I still prefer the BRZ even with its lack of power. It's the complete package of a car to me which fits my needs perfectly. |
