You are better off not helping them at all.

Here in Indianapolis, one of the TV stations did a long term study / story on the beggars at the end of highway off ramps about 2 - 3 years ago. They found that ~ 95% of the beggars were scam artists who had good cars and housing. The beggars just figured out that they could make more money suckering people who are easily swayed by what appears to be a sad sack story. I seem to recall that some of the "professional" beggars were bringing home as much as $45k per year (untaxed).

I was driving through a shopping/commercial area with several stop signs and pedestrians everywhere, and I noticed a group of 5 kids around age 11 I would guess about to cross at the stop sign I was at so I waited for them.

As they walked past, the two boys in the group looked at me and said "we like your car!" so I decided to give it a mild rev so they could hear the exhaust. Immediately they got super excited and said "Aw yeah! Tesla, you can't do that!" and I realized there was a Tesla behind me that they were taunting. So naturally, I revved it again louder. This time they started yelling: "Yeah!! TESLA, YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!".

I thought it was pretty funny how they just immediately started clowning on the Tesla behind me. And nice to know that the type of people that like my single exit cannon exhaust are 11 year old boys. :/

Yesterday I was at another stop sign, and as I started to pull away from it, a kid on a bike yelled "Nice car!" to me, and as I turned my head to look at him, he said "Just kidding!!!"

My reaction:

How long did the Tesla stay behind you? I bet it went into warp drive and zoomed off into hyperspace.

I see about thre Telsas a day. They are everywhere around here for some reason. So far every one of them was being driven like an old Buick. Being capable of warp speed and being owned by people that actually drive that way seem to be two different worlds.
