Did my normal lab work and my GP calls me and scares the shit out of me saying my kidney numbers are way bad, that they could be possibly failing, and tells me she is sending me to a specialist. I am a cardiac patient, so my doc has a cow if any of my numbers are even close to being off.

So I had a long talk with the specialist this morning. He says the numbers aren't good, but not as alarming as my doc made it sound. He thinks it is just because I have been taking a lot of NSAIDs for my leg and knee inflammation, and I need lay off the NSAIDs for a while and give the kidneys a break, drink lots of water, and that I shouldn't worry at this point. I have an ultrasound scheduled for in the morning for good measure. I feel a lot better about it now.

That's good to hear.

That means we can make jokes without feeling too bad about it yet.

Yikes! Yeah, those back and forth exchanges can be gut wrenching.

Some good news.

I have a horrible allergy to NSAIDs that developed in my late 40s after taking aspirin and others pretty much my entire life. I blow up like a blowfish now if I take even a small dose.

I deal with the probability (not possibility) of somebody getting maimed or killed every day and have for the last 28 years. I have a bit of a black sense of humour on the subject which I am sure is just a coping mechanism.

Got my third flat in 2 months today. Talk about bad luck. Good thing I'm getting new tires tomorrow morning.

Current tires have served me well. 110,000km of tough living.

Ditto. Not the everyday part. That's in my past but it shapes a person.

Before June of this year, I've only had one flat since I got the truck in May-ish 2015. Just bad luck in combination with the tires being nearly bald doesn't leave much protection.

Sounds like I'm off to the rockies/foothills soon for work, so I wanted to get some decent offroad tires. Unfortunately, the only ones which fell in the price range set out by my boss were General Grabber A/Ts. Not the best choice, but they'll surely be better than a road focused "go anywhere" tire.
