I would think that the decision is based apart from price how much customisation you're going to do with the car, my intention is to pretty much leave my car stock as a daily driver (with maybe an aero style body kit without the hideous spoiler)
GT to save the $5K on customisation, GTS to pretty much leave the car as it is.

Once its tracked? Prob just wider rims, upgraded pads, braided lines & new fluid. If its still not up to the job get some kanga paw rotors and possibly larger brakes.
Then again by that stage should be down 60-80kg - Seat delete, lighter exhaust, spare, compressor, lightweight 16's. |

I have been wandering the same thing. 01-02 STI brakes seem fairly easy from what I have seen in the states, but that will limitwheels with brakes that big,

I would try to get the same master cylinder from the car you get the brakes off, unless the 86 has the same part

Yeah, I would think the +48 offset would be fine, but I don't want offset that high LOL :P
I was thinkinng (read:Hoping :P) that maybe the master cylinder from the STI would be an easy fit... But something like turbo liberty brakes, if they fit, would be great I think, because they would be alot bigger than stock, but not chunky like the brembos. |

I have never seen a master cylinder being offered as part of a big brake kit. I am assuming that the volume behind the pistons is not significantly larger than standard.

If you want to upgrade the GT brakes, your best bet is to source GTS calipers, then you don't have to worry about fixing the bias. Given they are WRX fronts and Liberty rears, you may even get lucky and get the same parts from those cars.
Note that I had Liberty calipers with 316mm rotors ready to go onto a BRZ, but sold them because there's no easy rear fitment I can find that would be even close to maintaining the proper bias. |
