Been an owner of '17 series for 3 weeks, getting a lot of similar behavior. Sometime feel like a target. Come on folks, this is SoCal, cops, old people, be safe, be sane. As a sport bike rider I've learned one golden rule--keep the (excessive/aggressive) fast driving on the track. I know for some it's not in the budget but please behave, our insurance rates depend on it!

No race attention here in Florida with my 86, but have gotten over a few compliments and chats at gas stations and self-serve carwashes, and even a few fellow brz/frs/86 drivers pull beside me and compliment.

im not exactly sure if this is a "race me bro" situation... but it ended badly for both of us.
I was minding my own business, pulling up to a stop light behind a really good looking black FD RX-7. After admiring it for a while, the light turned green, he took off with tires screeching and i was like "cool!" and moved on. My right turn was coming up from the main road (6 lane avenue, we were both in the left lane), so i merged to the right most lane to exit. At this point, there were few car length between me and the RX7, but he slowed down and im beginning to catch up. As i'm approaching him, I guessing he saw me and wanted to do a fly by or something, he merged to the middle lane and started losing traction and control of the car. ultimately it resulted in the RX7 oversteering from over-correction and ended up sideways in my lane. I was already on the brake as i saw him losing it, but it wasn't enough for me to avoid him when he oversteered into the right lane. My front driver side collided with his passenger door/frame, pushing me onto the curb to the right at the same time. The impact was slow enough i suppose that no airbag was deployed, but there are some extensive damage to the front driver side of my BRZ. We pulled into a parking lot to resolve the situation, he admitted fault right away, saying he only got the car 2 weeks ago. I immediately know this guy didn't know how to handle a turboed car, and he probably was trying to merge without anticipating boost. unfortunately, he didn't have insurance... so i'm still figuring that portion out (this happened 2 weeks ago). I was in a fun mood... so I was the "racer" the other day, but too funny not to share.
There are a few traffic circles near my house, so going home I turned of traction control and mashed the acceleration turning around 1 of the circles giving me an epic power slide (as epic as it could be at 20/30kph). The funny part was look on the guys face coming towards the circle... he just stared with his mouth open for a good 15 seconds before I passed him. Gotta love these stock tyres :-)

Friendly reminder that if you can't keep it in your lane, you lack either talent or tire. Slow down.

@slyphen
Damn man, please let us know how your car is doing. If he didn't have insurance I would have asked to take his RX7 as payment. |

Have had 2 notable experiences in the past month.
First I was casually driving down the freeway at a comfortable cruising pace in the left-most lane. Came up on a Tesla that was one lane over to my right, and I noticed he started speeding up to match me. Then he stomps on it and the Tesla did as Teslas do and took off (without any raucous excitement). He then taps on the brakes and waits for me to catch up, probably wondering why I didn't want to race. I see the passenger looking behind them practically out of his seat. I'm no fool; I know this car isn't fast and there's no way I can even attempt to keep up with dual electric motors.. The second experience caught me a little off-guard. Sitting at a stop light and a Ram 1500 pulls up. Think nothing of it and when the light turns green, it's business as usual. My windows are down, and I start hearing the trucks motor working hard. Could it be? Is this truck really trying to race right now? The road goes down a hill and speeds up to a 50, so I thought I would toy with him a bit and play along. Ended up speeding along with him until I hit the speed limit where I then backed off and coasted down the rest of the hill while he went speeding off and cut across all lanes of traffic to go from the far right to the far left on a 3 lane road. Some people need to just go to a track and get it out of their system

The other day I was commuting home from a long day at work,
I was driving at normal pace cruising at about 3k rpm, i noticed a black Audi A4, Plasti Dip Wheel...you get the point, cruising beside me with an intent to race me. I noticed far ahead my lane was ending due to construction, so i must move to the left lane and merge in with traffic. There was absolutely no car on the road except for me and that Audi, he was driving behind me, as soon as I signal to change lane and he started to sped up, stay right beside me to block me in, and wouldnt let me over. I almost crash into a bunch of construction pylons I hit the brake hard, switch lane, stay behind him. after the right lane open up again, i drove up side by side and roll down my window. i asked him to roll down his window so I can give him a piece, THIS GUY ACTED like most coward, was affraid to roll down his window. while i was yelling at him with many "not so nice word" he just shake his head like nothing happened, and change lane. make a left turn to avoid me.... to his defense, I still had my autocross number on from last Sunday, that must have trigger something in him.
