I upgraded to a vantrue x2 which lasted about 6 months (they replaced it for free and that unit crapped out after 3 days). Don't trust amazon reviews too much, a lot of these companies ask buyers to change their review rating after a return. Vantrue certainly did and I told them to f&ck off. However, the video quality was insane when it worked. Seems like most of these cams don't last longer than 6 or 7 months before being replaced or returned. I'm currently running the viofo a119 with polarizing filter (crossing fingers). So far so good, a little windshield glare but its livable.

I actually hardwired my dash cam and my stock battery took a shit a week later since it was always running.

Now... what I do is, just leave it on whenever I'm parking somewhere shady.

If I'm not parking anywhere shady, I just unplugged the cable from the camera so it doesn't drain my battery.
