Car is looking good. I want to see it with all your stickers/magnets attached to it, to make it look more like a race car. Haha.

Today, I am going to remeasure and readjust the suspension from the settling. Have an Alignment planned tomorrow after work, if theres anymore settling..hopefully it can get it over with.. ... I think this time...I am going to be in the car for the alignment. Makes sense, right?? Prepping for CentDivs on Saturday and Sunday.. so far 7 entrants in STX... 2 BMW 325's (one is a 2 driver car)... a late model Nissan Sentra, a 2012 Mustang, and a WRX..I know that one of the Bimmers is a national level car/driver, so I will see where I stand.. I am pretty sure this is going to be followed by the national staff as well, *at least thats what a little birdie told me* Hopefully I can step up and drive to that level also and the car performs the way I want it too. Plus I will still be sorting out the car and the settings on the suspension. ahhhh sooo much to do. More later. Have a great 4th everybody.

Some of the KW Race stuff is mono-tube but I'm not sure they make many inverted shocks. Some have a big sleeve with a linear bearing for reinforcement, which looks like an inverted shock but is not (wrx and evo group n 3-ways for example).

edit- this fancy thing for example is not actually an inverted shock:

Interesting its not..I always thought that fatty tube always meant it was inverted...thanks for correcting that for me.... hmm never knew

inverted dampers have the damper body attach to the frame of the car and the shaft to the wheel

fatty tubes = mono

also don't hold me to this but i believe only gas shocks can be inverted

yeah i don't know why those pinks were labeled as inverted because as far as i'm concerned their design is standard. The body/housing is attached to the hub and only the shaft is attached to frame.

inverted generally means the body housing attached to the frame and the shaft to the hub.

perhaps inside they are different, but as far as i'm concerend they are a regular type of damper.

I hear ya... Motorcycles have a distinguishing 'inverted' look... where they connect to the triple clamp.... no biggie..I think we are on the same sheet of music..

Only monotube shocks can be inverted. Frankly inversion isn't a big deal its still a damper and most of the weight is in the housing not the damping portion anyway.

Well, how else are you going to invert a strut suspension? The damper cartridge is "inverted" in the housing, which does slightly decrease unsprung weight but mostly makes the assembly stiffer and stronger. IMO this type of thing is more worthwhile for a strut than a shock because of that.

Starting to get off topic though. Looking forward to the results from today.

Well... you CAN invert certain twin tubes which are designed for it. Standard twin tube designs have pressurized gas in the reservoir tube, when you invert this design, gas enters the base valve, gets in the pressure tube, and messes up the damping forces. However, there are twin tubes which are designed without this free floating pressurized gas. Most steering dampers for trucks(mounted horizontal) are twin tube, they just use a foam sleeve or gas bag as the compressible volume, this prevents the gas from going through the valving. there is nothing preventing you from "inverting" a twin tube that is designed like this and it working fine. We used to do some specialty inverted twin tube designs for lifted truck specialty applications and motorcycles when I used to work as an aftermarket damper engineer.

It depends what you call "damper body" here is a good comparision picture of an inverted monotube versus a typical monotube. It's about the position/movement of the damper piston with respect to the pressure tube. if you think of it as the "outer body" it'll likely fowl you up because inverted dampers can and typically have additional tubes. IE: in the pictured example, the inverted has 2 tubes, the standard monotube has 1 tube.
