I'm trying to buy a 2017 brz with performance package but the best price I can find is $27,810. I see others getting 2k below invoice which is crazy! Any tips?

Hey guys, since I couldn't find another thread for color decision, I decided to jack my own thread. I am completely torn between WRB and SWP. If you went with one color or the other, please share your rationale...
Some pros & cons I can think of: WRB Pros: only BRZ and performance-oriented Subarus get this color, stands out, can do the blue + gold wheels combo, may yield higher resale value(?) Cons: looks like a Hot Wheels car, hotter in summer(?) SWP Pros: cooler in summer, a more JDM color, cleaner and shows off the lines better Cons: too common especially when you count the 86/FRS in white |

From what I've seen in my spreadsheets and online for the past couple months the WRB isn't commonly seen on sale, and when it is, they don't tend to be on sale for very long. However I'm inclined to believe that the average non-enthusiast buyer doesn't really like the WRB color (hence why you see more white/black twins), but enthusiasts really love the WRB color, so there's more demand from a smaller section of the market for that color. Based on what I've seen, price/mileage seems to drive sales more than color (e.g. see ANY overpriced BRZ on a CarMax lot...), along with whether or not the car in question is stock vs modded. So long story short, I don't think you should pick a color based on the potential value/demand for it. Go with whichever color that makes you love staring at your car. While we're on the topic of colors, Toyota does offer a solid selection of alternative colors for the 86. Hot Lava, Ultramarine, etc. And their white is looks really good on the 86 too. |

I've always wanted SWP but lately my 5-year-old son has been telling me to get a "blue sports car", so I started paying attention to WRB.Noticed you are also in OC. I just did a quick search on cars.com. Currently there are no SWP BRZ (2017, limited, MT) within 150 mile radius.

Veloist MIGHT be selling his immaculate 2016 Series.Hyperblue (he posted somewhere in one of the BRZ forum threads recently he just might keep it) as he is thinking about getting the BRZ tS. I saw his ads on Craigslist and on Cargurus here (Cargurus links are super long, so I'm hyperlinking them). You might want to message him after checking his ad if you're interested.
There was another Series.Hyperblue on sale in the So-Cal area when I last checked 2 days ago, but it looks like it got sold. It had a lot more mileage on it than Veloist's, but it wasn't on the market for more than 2 weeks. I even saw a salvage title Series.Blue on Craigslist in San Diego that got sold in a couple days for around $15k. There aren't a ton of BRZs in general, so I've been searching in the 250-500 mile range from LA just to spot any steals. I've seen only 3-4 of the 2017 models being sold used in the past 3 months. |

HyperBlue with PP would be the heat - I would've gone that route if it existed. I went with silver since the Subaru silver has a touch of blue in it and it looks really good. Too many silvers are really boring, but this one pops. Good luck with your decision-making!!

In late June I paid $26,493 for a WRB with the Performance Package and popular Package 1. Negotiated most of a day online but when the above price was agreed to I pulled the trigger. Pleasant experience. GREAT car!
