My old phone fit in there nicely. New phone won't fit, from now on I buy my phones based their ability to fit in that cubby. For a bit I kept a rolled up red micro fiber cloth, you never know when you will spill something and you need that quick. Everything else is too hard to fish out of there or goes flying at the first sign of spirited driving.

That pocket IS usable .. but only on cars without keyless start. Button is what makes that pocket unusably narrow. IIRC there were some mods to relocating that start button to steering wheel or to mid console, and retrofitting full width pocket.

Why would any one move a start button to make a tiny not so useful pocket a small not so useful pocket? I'm sure there are more productive things they could do with there time. And of course there are the inept people who would frack it up an damage the console.

Subaru meant for it to be a key holder, Scion meant for it to be whatever you want lol.
