still don't understand why people get so bent over on the crickets that they have to replace their fuel pump...never once has it made me feel as though something is mechanically wrong with my 86.

Too bad about her choice of colour though.

She must love you a lot, or she's doing the mailman...

People are different. It annoyed me so I had it replaced free. That a problem?

no, it ain't a "problem" since you can do whatever you want to your car. but it wasn't like the 86's powertrain sounded glorious to begin with, should've told them to replace the entire thing. plus, crickets only come up when you aren't driving.... is it a problem that I find the act of replacing mechanically functioning hardware merely because it sounds bad (which will most likely just come up again) annoying?

I'm with you on the transmission grind. It does get annoying and it's not just me, I had 2 friends and my stepdad say that my transmission grinds 2nd and 5th and it's hard to shift at times.

Honestly, if you don't like the car just sell it or trade it in. I know someone who traded his in for a 2015 wrx and he's very happy with it. I also know over a dozen peeps that changed traded off different cars because it wasn't what they wanted Do what makes you happy

my 86 is my first manual DD and I'm currently at 30 K, I have yet to experience any grinding issues. I really take my time with the shifts, especially 1 > 2 and while it is kinda notchy while it warms up, every gate feels pretty smooth for me.

Unlucky man... I've done over 30,000 miles in mine with not a single issue.

You are also talking about modding and think that will not create issues?

Go grab a 4 year old BMW and see how that works out for you.

I get you are frustrated but things could be far worse.

I hear bicycles are pretty silent and quite simple mechanically.

I have had no issues with my car and I drive it pretty hard everyday. I am actually impressed with how well the engine is actually made.
