You are also talking about modding and think that will not create issues?

Go grab a 4 year old BMW and see how that works out for you.

I get you are frustrated but things could be far worse.

Yeah I'm probably overreacting but it gets pretty annoying you know? I don't like going to the dealership every 2 months.

3 issues you stated. Two can be directly related to you not knowing how to drive manual very well, and the other is the most known, thoroughly discussed issue of the FRS/BRZ.

If the crickets are actually on your list of why you're getting rid of the car, that's frankly your own fault for not doing even the slightest bit of research about it.

Edit: Damn, I just realized this is my 1000th post and I wasted it on this garbage.

Well, Terruko, it's a shame that you're not happy with your car .....

Sometimes stuff just happens with used cars. If you aren't enjoying your car, maybe it's best that you get rid of it and get another car.

Good on ya .......

Unless you abuse your gearbox, and there are many subtle ways to do so, there's no reason a properly rebuilt transmission wouldn't permanently solve the issue. Maybe the PO was the one that slutted it out.

Do you skip gears?

My dealer has a hot receptionist so I make up reasons to go.

Sell it - there's no point living with a car you don't enjoy. Cars are relatively easy to switch out.

I know it's not the popular opinion but I've never bought a new car. Even my frs had 1800 miles on it when I bought it. The way I see it, when you start out with a car, new or used, you're getting to know it. I always assume the PO had shitty habits and/or abused it out of ignorance. The money I save in purchasing a used car can be used to bring it back into the pink.

You have a warranty. Take advantage of it and enjoy knowing you get a do-over breaking in the transmission nicely.

Skipping gears, say 3-5 is hell on the syncros over time, even if done gently.

If you choose to have your transmission repaired, be prepared for crunchy shifts for as long as 5000 miles. It took mine longer than that to break in (lap together) and grab properly. Probably because I also baby it.

For all intents and purposes 1800 miles IS a new car.

All of those are known issues with the car. Trade it if you want but the loss is your fault for not expecting these things to possibly come up. Sucks it all did but thats life sometimes.

Make aure you throw in a Velox clutch fork so you dont toast another throw out bearing right away though. That seems to be the actual weak point

Did you buy used or new?

If used, are you one of those guys who bought the cheapest one available (even if it was salvaged or obviously ragged out?)

Not trying to be inflammatory.

Ok, let's sum up the real problems.

Crickets - never been a real problem on any 86, just a problem for whiners.

TOB - yes, it has a week one. Has yours gone out, our are you just complaining?

Grinding - again, has your car stopped working because of it? You probably don't know how to shift.

Synchro going bad - again, I think you are a hypocondriac.

Go buy a civic.

I know. Mrs. Ultra is an angel. She already knew my general car-buying requirements because, well, we're happily married.

I mentioned passing interest in the frs to her only once. Friday that same week, she had it sitting in our driveway waiting for me to come home from work.
