I've tracked and raced a Vortech SC 86 for almost 4 years now (41 days on track to date), with minimal problems.
Sure, some other SC's make a little bit more power, but I'm a very happy chappie, and would recommend Vortech if you want a reliable setup for the long run.

You're the one who stated it's inferior I was questioning your logic. Just FYI I have the vortech and have zero issues with it. Unlike the kraftswork which shreds belts and blower seizes. Along with Jackson racing having issues with seizures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Has anybody compared the weight, position of weight, and it's effect on the cars center of gravity between the otherwise similar Edelbrock and Harrop?

C'mon guys, this is exactly what the op requested not to happen. He's asking about JR and sprintex.

I'll throw some piece of mind out there -- I love my Sprintex 210 (non-intercooled with 72.5mm pulley) for a variety of reasons.
1. It produces power down low, which allows me to have fun at less-than-full-throttle on my commute. I don't take this car to the track more than 0.5% of the time, so why bother with a setup designed for the track? 2. It was very easy to install, and there really isn't much to go wrong. I've had no issues with belts, and the only maintenance is the supercharger oil. I installed it myself in 10 hours with absolutely no help, and with no prior experience. I have never had a problem since install. 3. It was very cheap... With the tune from Moto-east included and flex-fuel (through moto-east) I've got 2700 in my entire setup... and I'd guess i'm around 280-290whp depending on weather. 4. I don't have to worry about the car blowing up due to over-boost or other complications. The kit doesn't make enough power to cause real trouble or threat in comparison to other kits. I'm still on the stock clutch, and its lasting fine after 15k miles on the kit. 5. The whine from the supercharger sounds awesome, and its something you don't get with any other kit. 6. I find the rev range to be butter-smooth on E85, with power from 2k all the way up to around 6.5k (although I never floor it under 3k). 7. The unit doesn't get too hot while on E85. On pump gas, oil temps reach 215+ under normal driving conditions, which is a little concerning. I've not been to the track with it, however (no experience there). A few downsides that I have observed: 1. It can be 'lurchy' at times, especially when not on E85. There are 'surges' of power as the unit kicks in. I don't notice this however, until I drive another stock BRZ/FRS. 2. The unit gets hot with normal pump gas, and I'd recommend the intercooler version for any hard driving on pump gas. 3. You aren't producing tons of power... which could be seen as con. 4. EDIT: Forgot one thing... On normal pump gas the non-intercooled version is not a big improvement over stock. You can feel an increase in power, but its a bit disappointing, especially in comparison to the E85. Luckily, as said, it is also very cheap in comparison to other kits. Overall -- for daily driving you can't beat the cost and performance of it IMO. |

I've had my Sprintex on for 50,000 km approx and the only issue (early on ) was a belt started to go but it got me home .
Problem was solved with a new idler pulley that Sprintex gave me and other than topping the oil up it has been bullet proof so far. I've got the 69mm pulley and the cut out set at about 7800 rpm so it doesn't get an easy time of it but I still love driving it every I get behind the wheel . Hope this helps . |

Traction-driven Rotrex is the state-of-art in centrifugal compressors. Gear-driven Vortech is simply out-of-date. Yeah, vortech still works and reliable and all that. Rotrex also works and reliable but with much higher efficiency. All other companies gave up with gear-driven superchargers. This is decade-old news.
I chose JRSC not only because of hardware reliability but tune as well. The carb tune from Jackson Racing is so smooth, so much better than the stock tune both at idle and redline. That speaks to the quality of the kit, at least for me. Al these with the stock header and exhaust, 300 hp at the crank, no (none!) torque dip (if that matters to you), no stupid UEL/EL header with flaky welds under my engine, no fart can attached to my tail, pure linear power, that's it. Surprisingly harrow costs more than the edelbrock option by about 800-1000 USD for me :-(

Good points, and confident I've got that side covered. We've got a delicious 'tuner' not too far from me - and I've had their flexfuel kit + tune for over 2 years with 100% reliability and smoothness, etc etc etc.

Thanks for all the useful info to the guys who've contributed.
I'll be adding myself to one of the owners threads soon ;-) Just need to get a 1/2 last questions answered by the manufacturers.

it's to do with the coolant pump wiring as the wiring needs extending/changing for the battery on the other side. I think that's it. Someone here installed one and said, while not hard work, some parts needed changing when adapting for RHD

After many, many hours of talking, emailing, reading, and considering all the relevant advice (& discarding the hearsay and nonsense)...
I’ve ordered an intercooled Sprintex 210 SPS kit. The SPS did cost a few extra bucks and ultimately I decided to do it because efficiency isn’t only about the added power, but about better airflow and heat management too.. I also went Sprintex in the end for a few other key reasons (in no particular order); 1. The biggest factor in the end was Local support. My local installer is close enough so if I experience any issues I’m not trying to get help across an ocean and different time zones. He’s also worked with Delicious for years and installed quite a few Sprintex kits. 2. After riding in a few different cars I really enjoyed the low and midrange torque. I don’t care if the top end if down on other kits... let’s face it, outside of a track hardly anyone drives in the 6-7,000rpm range for longer than a few seconds. I enjoyed the rotrex/centrifugal cars I went in, but without revs they didn’t really have too much excitement which means I don’t think they’re better “street” options. 3. The SC whine. I bought this car because it is RWD and fun... the whine adds to the fun. 4. Many potential issues are already resolved via the tuners, this forum, previous owners, etc. 5. My tune is being done by Delicious... went in a local SPS car and the pull was smooth, gear changes perfect, no surge, no jerky throttle (even with slow pull offs, normal driving)... in fact nothing different from the factory in terms of characteristics - except the awesome power increase of course. Should be installed in the next couple of weeks It’s been a long time coming, so I can’t wait
