That's what the speedo goes up to, so that's my best guess. Did I misunderstand the question?

Personally, I think I hit about 100 once on skyline at about midnight when I first bought the car. I don't go that fast because I think I wouldn't do well in jail.

He's a cool guy I didn't go to jail or get towed.

I'm fairly certain the stock 86 will NOT in anyway do 148mph, let alone 160mph.

I could potentially buy 148mph indicated at a push. Especially if you have fitted lower diameter wheels/tyres. Very unlikely to be real GPS 148 though.

But 160... no.
Yep, sometimes I wonder myself.

I did the math once ..... and forgot the answer.

Who would like to do it again for a FR-S or BRZ ......??

I've got news for you. That's not even remotely how it works. For the "most" part, a car's speedometer will go up 20-30 mph ABOVE it's true top speed.

And there are/were 2 big exceptions to this. Back in the 80s (maybe 70s as well?) a lot of domestic cars had speedometers that only went up to 85 mph. And back in the 80s and part of the 90s most JDM cars had speedometers that maxed out at 180 kph (roughly 112 mph).

You mean I can't increase the top speed with a 200mph speedo? Well thanks, there goes my next mod.

Yes, I lived thru the Federal 85mph speedo law from 79 to 81.

I still have the original speedo for my old Z. Started at 15 mph. So cool.

I've hit 152 before but it definitely took a long time. Would never do it again.

Coming back from Arizona yesterday down hill a bit. I saw 126 MPH in 6th.
On the way there on a part of the road that was flat. I saw 116 MPH, in 5th.
It took a long time on the flat road and it was just at red line in 5th.
