If answer is yes to both questions go get one. Just send an email to some dealers and get an agreement on price. Its what I did, got one for 28500 plus tax etc. I am happy with the price I paid the dealer is happy, thats all that matters.

Most people on this forum are here because they like the car. So asking the question here is a little moot. Complaining about sticker prices or low HP or engine bay over-spray (Who actually cares about this one???) or engine chirping or clunky gear change is all part of owning the vehicle. Sure it would be nice if the car was perfect. Its not, it's a 25k-30k car making it available to most people who have the desire to own an affordable sports car. It is not a BMW M? or AUDI S? or any other hi end sports coupe. Its a Toyota.

Buying a new car is a completely personal matter. My brother just spent 50K on a new truck. I respect his right to spend his cash one whatever floats his boat.

If you want one, go buy it. Who cares what other people think about you personal life choices.

I have a supernova orange 860. Negotiated $800 off MSRP and I was able to get it at 0% financing for 5 years.

I definitely don't regret the purchase.
I mean, I wanted the PP options that the BRZ offers but I was (and still am) totally in love with the look of my car. I'll just invest some money into performance as time goes on, but it already looks perfect in my eyes.

The Halo White version has an Initial D/Takumi sort of feel to it as well.

It's not a popular opinion on these boards, but I think that they did a great job with the 860 special editions (keeping in mind that it is only ~$1000 or so more than the base model and comes with so many more features like a spoiler, fog lights, dual climate control etc ).

It is more than $1000 more than the base. It's around $3000-4000 more. The regular 86 is 26-27k and the MSRP on the 860 seem to be around 31-32k. I mean it's fine for what it is, it's the same as any of the Scion special edition, basically a Limited trim level with a few different parts and bits.

86s run between 29-31k base in my area.
860s are between 31.5-33k.

The dealership I purchased my 860 from had a massive stock of them, and the price difference was $1,200.

Wow, yea at that price difference is almost a no-brainer to go for a 860 over a base model.

I don't know what possesses the dealerships in your area to overprice the 86 but I got mine $1000 below sticker/$500 above invoice at about $25.4k... So yeah, going for an 860 would've set me back an additional $4500+.

Probably a difference in the value of currency playing a major factor in those price differences; I live in Canada.

I wish I could find an 86 for 25.4k in this area

new GT86 860/SE owner chiming in

Hi all! I just bought my new Special edition today! woot!

I paid $26,500 for the Manual transmission special edition, in Halo color. Can't believe I got that price, and here's the kicker: If I hadn't gone for the financing, they would have taken the Toyota special discount of $1000 off of THAT price (making it $25500 for the Special edition). I think I got a good deal!

no offense, but i'd like to see that contract. there's no way a dealer would take that much of a hit on this car so soon. perhaps you can give the name of the dealer too.

That is one great deal, that is what I paid for my Halo 860 three months ago!
At the time they did not have any special edition yet, and when they did get them, they were all automatics.

This $25500 / $26500 price was from Maita Toyota in Sacramento, CA Internet department. The salesperson said that this deal was a special one authorized by the dealership owner or somesuch only until the end of July, then that price went up a bit I asked how many Toyotas that dealer sells per month (it seemed like a very large dealer), and they said around 450 vehicles (of all models) per month.

Slight thread hijack.

TL;DR: Dealer wants to meet to "offer me a crazy deal". Only thing on the lot that compares to my Monogram is the 860. Tell me this is dumb.

Can anyone who owned both tell me if it's really worth it?

2014 Whiteout FR-S Monogram. 30k miles. Derped a bit
+ 2017 HPFP (No crickets)
+ TRD body kit
+ RS1.0 TRD exhaust to go with said TRD kit
+ Perrin intake tube / noise pipe delete

vs

2017 Halo 86 Edition 860. New.
+ 4.3 diff
+ Nice tails.
+ Chassis upgrades.
+ Backup cam
+ about 1 inch ground clearance from lack of kit.
- Front catfish bumper
