FRS 6.0LS2 Swap
Hello all working on a 6.0 LS2 engine and 6 speed out of a 06 GTO. Debated on putting the swap on here. They're are so many better documented swaps. Doing most of the work myself and often forget to take many photos.
As it stands right now the ls and 6 speed are sitting in the car. Lots to do for just general assembly of the FRS. I am having a hard time deciding which way to go for engine/car management. (ECU) I would like to thank the members that have came before and have document the builds so well! Last edited by Corley; 07-26-2017 at 12:45 PM. |

Go ahead and throw up some pictures! We all love different build and regardless if it has been done before, it always helps everyone out. If you're wanting a less expensive stand alone option, I know of a shop here called trust automotive that does a EMtron setup which can retain AC, PS, and traction control. also will allow the factory pedal instead of a GM one.

Looks great!! I was wondering how the 6.0L fits compared to the 4.3 or 5.2 LS. Did you purchase a conversion kit for mounts, etc? I would love to see how you solve the wiring issue. I want to do the 6.0 LS swap in the future when i can fork up enough money to do so!

Finally making some progress with posting. Spent a lot of time head scratching. Shout out to gtpvette! for the clutch master cylinder box photos and build break down!!! It was what I needed! I have a solid 1 inch of clearance from the banjo bolt to the valve cover.
I have the engine in the third hole from front on the cx mounts. I do not have to cut my hood support. It clears I am using the stock belt set up that came on the donor GTO. I did however have to use a different alternator. Could not get a pulley to match the stock alternator with the clutch set up. Tried summit... went to a local shop told nobody makes one. They did get me set up with one that works and plugs in to ls harness. I have a Mishimoto rad and thin fan set up. In the stockish postion. I drilled the holes a little bigger to get room to run coolant pipe in front of the engine pushed rad about forward 1/4. I welded some 1/8 flat steel to the trans tunnel after removing the old support. Just seemed to thin. The cx mounts only use two bolts on each side and don't go around the tunnel like Vorshlag. Big goal have car running by NOV 10.. Working on wiring up the car using psi conversion stand alone harness and reprogramed E40. Hoping someone can point me in the direction of the fuel pump controller location? So I may bypass it. |

with the engine in the third hole, do you still have room for heater hoses and the AC lines?

@all4spl the stock GTO has a overrunning clutch set up on the alternator it sticks out 1 inch past the pulley no room for that! Used a different alternator that bolts up the same doesn't have the overrunning clutch set up. Also heater and A/C lines. Not running AC. Going to find out about heater hoses today...

Heater hoses fit its very tight. Hoses hook up and turn 90 degrees immediately. Go over top the vacuum elbow for the brake booster. Prior to installing the ls I cut the heater lines shorter. To about 3/4 to 1inch. I used HPS silicon HTSEC90-062-BLK they have tight 90 degree bend I then cut them just enough to get a hose clamp on them. I will get a photo of them tomorrow. I hope they won't blow off. Aluminum 3in drive shaft from a local guy $400 with two days notice. Got the car running still lots to sort. Those fan relays I tell you what..

The part number is HTSEC90-062-BLK Amazon has the hose I ordered it from HPS. I just cut on end of the hose down as far as I could and still have a little straight to put the clamp on. This I think this is some pretty good hose, four ply.
Also I used HPS to get from 1.25 to 1.5 from the water pump HTSER90-125-150-BLK it a 90 degree also. Further more both hoses come in blue or black. |
