Thanks for the response. What's the downsize in larger piping?

The downside* in longer* piping is less transient response due to the air having a longer physical path into the combustion chamber, which takes more time.

Ah makes sense. An aftermarket crash bar seems cheaper anyway. Just trying to make a budget over here.

Whats the difference between the Open dump to atmosphere and the recirculated valve? Is one more effecient/reliable than the other?

The main difference is sound. An open dump pipe (also called a "screamer pipe") will be very loud when you reach your target boost since you will basically have a big exhaust "leak" that bypasses the rest of your exhaust system. So when you hit full boost you will hear your car get significantly louder while a recirculated wastegate is pretty much inaudible. You can hear what this sounds like on a wrx in this video:

Fast forward to ~3:40.

Thanks! Could this be replaced with either? Like if i got the dump to atmo one first, could i replace it with a recirculated valve later? Or best to do it all in one go.

It's extremely difficult to recirculate an existing dump tube. Do it the first time or just live with the dump. And if you are on the fence, get a recirculated tube. Videos don't really capture it, it's insanely fucking loud.

I’ve had cars with recirculated and cars with a dump to atmosphere wastegates in the past - you’re probably going to want it recirculated. Like Amputechture said, it’s stupid loud and wouldn’t give much, if any, gain at these power levels.

Any decent fabrication shop can modify it for you. They just have to weld an extension on the dump pipe (usually with a flex pipe) and merge it into the downpipe. It would have been cheaper to buy the kit that way from the start but it's not like you're stuck with it.

We'll see when I get the kit. Sounds good from the outside but the inside is a problem lol well I guess I can deal with it since it only happens when boost comes in. Don't want to annoy my gf with loud lol

Yup, this is exactly right - the wastegate itself is the same, but there's a connection from the exhaust pipe of the wastegate to the downpipe on a recirculated system (using the car's muffler to quiet the system). Dump to atmosphere is basically an unmuffled exhaust/straight pipe on the wastegate if that makes more visual sense.

You have it all wrong! Once your gf hears the "dragon" that is a uel open wastegate dump she'll just tear her clothes off right then and there

On a serious note that's the best part of a open wastegate. It will be awesome race car loud when it opens up but at normal driving you won't hear the difference. Unless you plan on ripping it everywhere you go with your gf in the car who doesn't like mad sounding cars then you'll be good to go.

So sounds like its more for sound than anything. Now to be clear, this particular sound is the spooling sound of the turbo? AFAIK the "ppsshh" sound you get when shifting comes from the BOV. If i'm wrong please tell me lol.
