If you are saying ugly fitment cuz of the style of the front plate id say if anything it looks better without the fake chrome accents. To each their own.

Sorry I didn't look at the actual size numbers. I just saw the front screen sticking out which made me think that it's going to be bigger than our bezel.

I'm doing research on whether iPhones work on these headunits with USB. My search might come to a screeching hault if they don't support apple products. On the joying website, it states that it doesn't support iPod.. don't know what they mean by that..

Think it's a typo in the listing...if you scroll down everything else says quad core. Another one that's 204mmX103mm...I'm gonna pull my trim off and measure it.

Nice ad, lol :D

So i asked hizpo about their headunit's connectivity with iPhone and if they're affiliated with joying in some way and if the USB connection works with torque and this is what I got

Dear Customer;
Very glad you are interested in our products.
This unit is a universal type, it's not play&plug, you need to connect all the wires separately, and measure the size of dashboard whether it is the same as the listing showed.
When you connect your phone via USB it only for charging , you can listen to music via bluetooth from the phone. The torque app work with this unit, it connect via bluetooth , it's better to the joying unit., it has the latest system and the RAM is 2GB
Other questions contact us
Regards

Wow thanks for that !

From the sounds of all the andriod units, the sellers don't know much about them. Joying said that USB obdlink SX doesn't work and it needs to be bluetooth yet someone here confirmed that it works. I wonder if it's the same for hizpo. I asked an eBay seller though so maybe that's the problem.

If it can work with iPhones through USB, I'd be very happy. OP, sorry to bother you but do u have any iPod you can try this with?

All I have is an old iPod classic. I'll plug and see if anything happens. It also says it can only handle up to 32gb SD card but I'm using a 64gb so not everything they say is correct.

That's exactly what I thought. I feel like it does probably the same as the joying and other android headunits, it's just that the sellers don't know much about them. Hey who did u contact for that file for your headunit ?

Indeed. There's a couple factories in China stamping out the SoMs and Joying/Hizpo/Eonon/Xtrons/whoever slap a housing around it and put something of a ROM on it.

You probably won't get useful or accurate information from any of them.

Some of them (Joying? can't remember) have it set up so only Bluetooth devices that follow certain naming conventions will pair, so they say only theirs will work. There are xposed modules that run on rooted units to work around it.

Edit:

Here's the OBDLink SX connected to a Joying JY-TQ123, lol.

I contacted them thru eBay. I had two emails this morning, one from eBay seller saying I'll be receiving a separate email with the update. The other came from some Chinese email (her name was Jane) with update and short video on how to update. Funny that the update is labeled nupdate.img and not update.img.

So after letting them know that the update fixed the issue, they responded with glad we could help, contact us with any questions. I responded with, please inform me if you have any updates in the future. They said they would keep me posted with any new updates. They may not have their website setup with support links like joying, but good to see they will continue to give customer support.

Also to note is that the hizpo Toyota units are one of the few that actually have a high res screen but it's also only 6.25" as opposed to 7".... definitely something to consider.

Hizpo 7" Android 7.1.2 head unit

Man they look the same yet they have so many differences . 1 thing to note on both headunits is, for subwoofers, it only has 1 rca input which is dumb as hell. You can get a y connection that will make both go into 1 but that's still a stupid move on both companies... oh and joying is working on apple carplay
