Wouldn't that be the one you linked yesterday?

I put that in my Amazon list...sorely tempted.

I did, but I didn't realize that the resolution is actually the higher one... Thanks for the reminder! Even better, they do have a working model we can negotiate with.

Question, can we essentially install the Dasaita software package so that we can use all their accesories? As you said, their hardware seems to be more or less similar across all the companies, but it's just a different software flavor that is installed on each that differentiates the products (aside from logos etc).

Hizpo 7" Android 7.1.2 head unit

They're all tempting. The reason why I want to go with joying is because of fitment and because it has good customer support and there are good reviews for it. Only Downside is, apparently there are no roms for it

As long as it's a MTCD ROM they are supposed to be interchangable. What's not interchangable is the MCU software.

Mmm...not Dasaita I think theirs are PX5 and the Hizpo is Rk3188. The important thing is the MCU and processor type to match...AFAIK any ROM from an MTCB RK3188 unit can be installed on any other MTCB RK3188 unit, likewise with MTCD. I believe the same is true for PX3/PX5. Most of the custom ROMs floating around are based on Klyde or Joying. I actually don't know that anyone has ever installed a stock ROM from one brand to another, but I imagine you'd just need a copy of it.

I think there are some factory images here but I don't believe that it's real up to date:

While there are no ROMs, there are a bunch of tweaks and utilities people have put together in the 'android head units' section on XDA.

Hmm... This would probably partly explain the lower cost of the Hizpo compared to the Dasaita or xtrons which are PX5.

You need the antenna kit if you want to keep radio reception. The aux port I haven't tested to see if the factory location passes the audio thru the USB. I'll get back to you on that one.

To really confuse you all, in the same ebay store that Rican_D bought his headunit, they are selling this "octacore" model... I'm thinking its a mistake but I'll ask anyways.

Well if you are saying size wise, it apparently is the same size as all the other Hizpo, so tight fit with modification, but not more uglier then the other models from Hizpo. If anything since the box seems smaller may be even easier to fit into our cars.

If you are saying ugly fitment cuz of the style of the front plate id say if anything it looks better without the fake chrome accents. To each their own.
