I didn't know there was a factory am in the boot. If that is the case you should be able to split the input to that amp to run in to your sub amp.

I am also extremely curious about this.
Im 50/50 on changing my GTS order to a GT, and if I have to rip out a $1000 head unit just so I can run a sub-woofer, that might just tip me over the edge. |

When i drove a Subaru WRX "Tuned by STi" one of the upgrades it had was an under-seat sub. It was a genuine subaru item and it was enough to give a bit of a thump and a much rounder sound and hence stopped me from upgrading the audio. There is another company that makes an under seat sub that might be worth considering...I think it is Focal.. Also, Jaycar used to sell them.
These are nowhere near as good as a proper box, but if space is tight, they might just be enough... Compact sports cars are always going to be about compromise... |

In the photos supplied, the plugs on the bottom left are for the speakers and power. The plug on the far right is the antenna. One of the others will be for steering wheel controls... After that, I really have no idea what's happening. I'm guessing that some of the other plugs might be piggybacked so that they can work in other models which use different harnesses as stock. Not sure if any of that made any sense. Serious audiophiles are going to upgrade the stock head unit and speakers anyway. |

oops, I didn't even realize this was the AUS/NZ section, but as long as you guys have speakers in the door it should be the same setup.
I took a look at the amp in the trunk and I don't think the power going to that amp is going to cut it. It was a very thin gauge wire and just run off a 15A fuse, so I think I'd be blowing that fuse even with my 200W amp. The good news is the L/R signal coming from the radio is there, and the wiring to the front door speakers is there, so I should be able to tap into that to wire in a 4 channel amp. wiring diagram ![]() location of amp (power connector is on the right) ![]() closeup of signal connnector ![]() The wires going into this connector are: (1 is at the bottom left of the connector in the photo, 10 is the top right) 1 - Pink (looks orange?) - Left speaker + 2 - Blue - Right speaker + 3 - Light Green - Left signal + 4 - White - Right signal + 5 - Violet - Left speaker - 6 - Red - Right speaker - 8 - Green - remote signal 9 - Yellow - Left Signal - 10 - Sky Blue - Right signal - So, I will just need to run a new power wire from the battery, and a ground wire, and then I can install my amp and sub using these wires for everything else. I hit up Lifestyle Car audio in North Parra yesterday while I waited to get my car tinted. For a custom box that fits into the corner of the boot with a RF 10" Punch sub and RF Amp w/ Installation came to $1100. I'm gonna think about it. Seems a bit steep.
