For hose that have had the pump replaced but still get the chirp I'd keep taking it back until they get it right.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I've found that different gas affects the amount of chirping I get. Shell 93 Octane, Valero 93 Octane, and Exxon 93 Octane make my car sound like a symphony at a stop light. However, when I use Texaco/ Chevron 93 Octane my car almost never chirps unless it's 95+ degrees out and even then it's pretty faint. Could just be my BRZ, though...

last month I heard my 17 brz making this chirping sound. I thought they would have fixed this problem by now. It annoyed me and my car was barely at 3,500. I was told I should try filling different gas.

Ever since I got the car I was filling up with Shell 91 (socal crap) I switched to Chevron 91 and it's been 2 fills and over 600 miles or so I haven't heard the crickets. Plus for some reason car felt better on chevron (butt dyno feels)

I heard Shell is actually getting sue now for gas quality or some shit, atleast on the south west of US, it's better to stick with chevron. Unless you love crikets & how intune your car is with nature.

Not sure where you heard it but the only thing I could find was in Canada and that was 14 years ago.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_Canada_lawsuit

It isn't a "quality" issue that causes the chirps anyway it is the ethanol level. We have seen time and time again that what one person says works for them somebody else says something else says the exact opposite. If a certain brand works locally then that is what is best there but it can not be held as accurate across the board.

I 2nd this. I'm in Ca so best I can find is 91 octane. I hear chirps every now and again but it's pretty rare and only in the heat. I always get chevron, I've heard that shell 91 also can stop the chirps for the most part. I'm at 67k now and I swear I hear them far less than when I was at lower mileage, I have always used the same chevron gas.

That being said the chirps are not that big a deal just a little noise which these cars make plenty of in spades from all over. Learn to love them, I did

Interesting so far how this is the third version of the pump and still getting the crickets. I hope those voting are responding after having the October 2016 pump redesign installed not the one from 2015. I'm using Sunoco 93 and been hot and humid here but the pump is cricket free.

is the TSB performed under warranty only if the car is less than 60 months old or less than 60,000 miles (whichever one comes first)?

My car only has 24k on it, but the first owner bought it in mid July 2012, which means it's just over 60 months old. Can I still get the TSB done for free?

Also, my cricket sound comes on very rarely... if the tech can't replicate the cricket noise during inspection, will they still replace the pump? Or should i just keep the one i have since it only comes on every so often?
