Crank Pully Install Tool?

So I've watched several DIY videos and searched the forum, I'm a bit concerned about the techniques I'm seeing to remove the stock crank pully given the potential for issues.

Are are of the generic tools to hold the cranky pull stable compatible with our car? Has anyone found a good tool that makes the process easier? Is there a shop tool that helps?

When I swapped the ATI Damper pulley on mine I just put it in 6th gear and had the GF step on the brakes and then used a long breaker bar. It was tough, but made it pretty easy.

I suggest you just close up your tool box, shut the hood and slowly back away from the car ....... there ain't nutten wrong with the crank pulley that came with the car ......

6th gear helps as it has most resistance. And a long breaker bar is needed. As for removing it, once the bolt is loose, just shake the pulley so it's not "glued" to the crank, then unbolt entirely, remove, and install the new one. Took me 30 minutes using a shovel as a breaker bar.

No I have the manual transmission, I'm just concerned about damaging a bearing or other internals given the crank can still move in most of the DIY installs I've seen.

I have seen one tool that looks like a giant wrench which appears to allow you to hold the crank pully with another individual while you crack the bolt.

Just be man and apply 120lbs and the nut will come off. The hard part is if the stock pulley is fused to the front of the engine, then you might pull off something you didn't intent to.

I bought the tool instead of doing the 6th gear "trick", I tried this but the car would move even when it was in gear and with the parking brake on. (Company23

That's crazy. I had to use a 4 ft breaker bar and all of my strength to get the pulley off and the car never moved in 6th.

There is a GrimmSpeed removal tool, but doesn't fit directly in our pulley. I had the same concerns as you and I ordered this tool. It doesn't work. As others mentioned, try the trick with the 6th gear and handbrake. You'll need also a long breaker bar. It should work. I haven't heard of any issues using this procedure.

I don't think the car would've moved much, but mine had a lot of give before breaking
