What I could see would be a boosted RWD coupe in the $25k range. Similar price to the WRX, similar HP but RWD and lightweight instead of AWD and 4/5-door. Otherwise you'll get every reviewer and magazine in the country talking about how you'd be stupid to pay $7k more for a vehicle that's slower and infinitely less practical...

I just want to know. If subaru made a version of the FT-86 and gave it AWD and 300HP isn't that like slitting their own throats??

I mean that's directly competing with their own brand. Why would you go buy a impreza when you get a car that's lighter more agile and has probably the same Power to Weight ratio?

Isn't maker's goal to make better car then previous one? Like Supra? Compare to 1st gen Supra to 4th gen Supra, there's so much difference. Heck why Ferrari still making cars? They already made Enzo. isn't Enzo good enough?

good points, but I am wondering what the WRX price will be in two years. Also, I can't see much of a car being offered for $25k in two years - maybe $30k?..3K more for a sport coupe?. If I look at the current market of cars and find a new one for $25k there are not many that I would be too happy with...that is not including buying one and modding it-that is just straight off the lot and being satisfied with what I got.

Yes, but the Enzo is nowhere near the same price range of the F430!

I think the 216A and the WRX are just too similar in specs, and too close in price. You never want to compete with your own cars. This is why when the Scion tC came out, Toyota discontinued their Celica.

You get what I'm saying. Lol it would have been like Nissan offering a 300hp awd Silvia lmao at the same time they made the skyline and only made them 5k$ apart from each other lmao

Because some people think the 5 door WRX/STi is infinately more practical as a daily driver than a 2 door coupe. Coupes just don't sell in huge numbers and large parts of the population need the extra doors and cargo space. I don't and that's why I'd get the coupe.

I think they will initially just offer the 216a with the same power and price as the WRX (25k and 265hp) and then maybe a lot later offer an STi version. I don't see the car costing $30k USD. $25-26k seems like a decent increase over the $20k rwd Toyota.

Since Toyota and Subie are intent on re-creating the Mitsu/Chrysler DSM experiment hopefully they will learn from history and realize that the Turbo AWD models only sold like at the most %5 of the total because they were priced out of the market. This car needs to stay closer to $25k not $30k.
