Scion vs armadillo(?!)

What do you guys think of the damage to my 2015 FRS? Will not buff out, since parts are missing and/or broken.

This was a 75 mph encounter with a small critter, perhaps an armadillo(?!) at 11:30 at night on the interstate. Critter went directly under left front wheel.

Initial examination at a gas station showed no visible damage. Got it home, and used a flashlight to see that there was damage after all. Took the following pics in daylight.

Front bumper is cracked, and reaching under I can feel that it is torn away from one of the bumper mounts underneath. Front grill was pushed back, but snapped into place when I tried to realign it. The front lining of the wheel well is missing; I believe it was loosened, and then caught under the front wheel, which tore it out. I reckon that's how the fender went out of alignment. The door is closed tight in that picture.

Getting an insurance estimate tomorrow.

That's a bummer. Easy enough to sort out if you want, about the only thing I'd probably want to do sooner vs later is fix the fix the fender liner. You can probably realign the fender with the door too. There are a couple of screws near the end closest to the door you can loosen and gently flex or move the fender back in to place.

We have them all over Tennessee. Seems like they just showed up in the last couple of years because I don't recall seeing them otherwise.

Of course, we now have cougars roaming the Tennessee forests.

Exactly my first thought, too. Possum, maybe, but I heard all the armadillos left because of the tax rate. They all came home to Texas.

I say it's a new bumper (if you want to fix the crack), new wheel liner, and a fender adjustment

Armadillo = possum on the half-shell.
Coming to a road near you.

Well now, that's too bad .....

Maybe it was just a BIG snapping turtle ......

Pretty much like said, replace the fender liner, realign the fender, patch up and paint over the crack in the bumper ....... and clean all the bug parts off the front.

See what happens when you exceed the speed limit ...... the critters just can't move any faster ......

I got almost the same damage when I hit a piece of truck retread.
The plastic fenderwell has no support once the pins are knocked out.
Wind gets behind it and flexes the whole thing into the tire.

I knew you guys would have fun with this.

I never saw an armadillo in Illinois until I saw one as roadkill on I-70 about 40 miles east of St Louis this April. Once I got home Saturday, I checked, and the furthest north verified armadillo in Illinois turns out to be in Will County (county seat is Joliet, IL), less than 50 miles from Chicago. Hard to imagine.

I initially figured this was something I might take care of myself, but I'll be getting an estimate for a comprehensive insurance claim later this afternoon. I'll let you know what they say.

At this point, I reckon I'm going to let insurance take it, since I think it's going to cost more than I'd like to (armadillo) shell out.
