What is this noise? Brake 'lsd'?

I had this posted in the track forum but thought I might get more feedback here.

So first of all everything below is about the 2017 BRZ with the newly configured traction/stability control system. Below in the manual it states that if you hold the 'off' button for 3 seconds it disables traction and stability control AND in a manual car the Brake LSD is also disabled (i.e. no need for pedal dances).

So...

I've heard this noise at a couple of events but this is the best one that got captured on video. I'm running my 2017 Brz with Traction Control 'OFF' which I thought disables the brake lsd thing? So what do you think it is? It can be heard at: ~:35 and ~:45

your ABS is kicking in.

Only way ABS is disabled on this car is if you pull the ABS fuse.

I was thinking that may be it, but why is it engaging? is it a function of the Brake LSD? I have braked HARD (in straight lines) in this car and have not had the abs kick in before

Braking + turning in.

Your tires can only give you so much traction... if you are braking then turning in, the changes in wheel speed will make the car think you are locking up your wheels.

If pedal dance (diagnostic mode) does not resolve this behavior, you just need to learn to drive smoother to not engage this.

Even when it's "off" parts of it are still on the only way to turn it off completely is to do the pedal dance

that kinda makes sense... I really thought I could avoid the pedal dance non-sense by going with a 2017 model... I guess we will see next month if I feel/hear any differences at the next event.
