![]() That sounds like a great job. Benefits and a job that is pretty much guaranteed permanent/full-time is sweet (rather than like 6 month contract to full hire kind of thing, which some companies around here do). |

I really like it. I've always thought it was silly having to have two things that do the same thing when in my car (HU and phone). Having it actually saved me some money since I was able to opt for a lower trim package that didn't have the "technology" option which included GPS (and leather heated seats, etc.)

Anyone have any experience with Cerwin-Vega? I had some point left on my Toyota Performance account, and didn't want that to go to waste before resigning, so I ordered a pair of 6.5" coaxial speakers. They had some Rockford Fosgate and Kenwood speakers as well, but the RFs were 3-way speakers (always found 3-way speakers to be too "bright"/harsh), and the Kenwoods only had treated cloth surrounds. Plus the CV had a higher sensitivity rating than both the RF and Kenwood.
I believe it's this speaker: https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...ega-XED62.html Only speakers I've had experience with were Polk Audio in my first Yaris. haha |

CV was a well respected speaker manufacturer back in the day, but that product just appears to be them slapping their name on whatever made in China lowest bidder would come up with a 6.5" speaker that meets their requested specifications.
Only 30w RMS power handling is pretty low for a speaker of that size, so I wouldn't expect too much (also they only go down to 60hz which isn't very low). Might be OK being driven from a HU versus a dedicated amplifier. And obviously an improvement over most OEM speakers. Quote:

I won't be running an amp on them, just running off of the HU. I probably won't install them until the front speakers blow in the Yaris anyway. LOL. But I've set the crossovers on the HU so that none of the speakers are distorting, so that might be a while. |

Might as well install them when they show up, no? Sound quality should be better than OEM. Unless popping the door panel is especially difficult or annoying.

Might need to start looking for a new job myself. Not really liking the changes that have been made to my team the past month.

I looked at the reviews for those CV speakers (more on Amazon), and a lot of people actually like them. If I'm not too lazy and get tempted to install them right away, I might just. haha Quote:

Yeah, they're basically telling people they're going to be forced to work on stuff they didn't join the company to do.
Basically one kind of software engineering that most people on my team don't know and don't have a desire to do for their careers. My new manager told me yesterday we need to figure out a project for me to work on, and then he listed his top 3 priorities, and none of them fit what I want to do for my career engineering-wise, and the same for most teammates. So..yeah, not great. |
