2018 BRZ updates

Thought I would start a thread about the 2018 BRZ for rumors/updates. Anyone know when it'll be available? Anything different?

probably not much difference considering they just did a refresh for the 2017 models. Only difference I would see is the BRZ sti which im not even sure what it has finalized wise.

On the 2018 BRZ tS prototype, one thing stood out that could possibly make its way into all 2018 models.

The Headunit has a different interface and no longer has a CD player.

This could indicate an upgrade into the Harmon Headunit being used in the current MY2017 Impreza. This unit has Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto and some other apps as well.

I think it would make sense to have this kind of technology in the BRZ since Subaru needs to push the sales.

From MY to MY it always seems like Subaru makes some small changes. I've don't think I never remember them running back a car without making some small changes. They may not be huge changes, but always something to slightly improve the car.

Man, if they do this I'll feel bad. Wonder if it'd be possible to buy it separately and get it installed.

The current headunit is usable but gives me such a headache.

If its anything like the MY2017 Impreza headunit, trust me you don't want it. We have a 2017 Impreza and its the one thing that has been a constant source of frustration: significant lag, hard freezes all the time (not just the touch screen, but the physical buttons will not do anything). It's been recalled once already for a hard reset and firmware update and it still freezes. We're taking it in later this week to have the entire head unit replaced but I'm not holding my breath that it's going to be fine after that. Multiple owners of Imprezas/Outbacks have reported same issues.

Here is what I "know". Subaru will break up with Toyota to release their Turbo BRZ STI. Subaru is replacing FA20 with EJ25 in their STI model. Toyota, in return, while keeping FA20 on all models, will offer a Jackson Racing sourced supercharger upgrade as TRD kit. 2018 will be a great year for twins, don't buy now, wait for 2018.

My 17 Impreza has a CD player in the 8" Harmon version.

Mine had all that but has been flawless since the update.
Is yours the 6 or 8 inch (the HU you jerks)?

I will be very surprised if the BRZ gets a Turbo in 2018, I waited 4.5 years with my 2013 and Had Crawford put a Turbo in my 2017. I think Subaru has their heads up somewhere and is too in love with the WRX STI over priced 4 door box.. after all, look at last month's Subaru Performance magazine. The BRZ does not even exist!!
My old 3 SVX's had more style than the WRX STI Buick. And they ran like hell with the 6 cylinder AWD. (Guess I'm giving my age away...lol)
