Probability of Eyesight Tech in 2018 BRZ

Like the topic states, What do you guys think are the changes of subaru installing the Eyesight tech on BRZ.

I am leaning towards never since this is a Co-op with toyota, i am not sure how much they can differ between the twins.

They always had Eyesight option in Japan for the BRZ since forever. Just not here.

Actually I don't think that's true. I don't recall seeing it featured on the Subaru Japan site for previous years. I know its currently not part of the 2017-2018.

Humm maybe I got confused with the parking sensors but I thought it was originally on the early editions of the printed catalog.

most of the eye-sight features wouldnt work on a manual car. (its presently offered in auto wrxs, only). That said its a great piece of safety equipment, my wife has it on her outback and its saved itself a time or two.

^ Yeah that's what I thought, it wouldn't work on a MT car. That plus that the fact that BRZ is low volume, the biz case is just not there for Subaru to bother putting Eyesight in the BRZ. Would have been nice though assuming it didn't jack up the price too much.

Agreed. My fiancé has it on her Impreza. Took it on a trip to Zion and it made the drive very relaxed and easy letting the system control the speed all the way

No chance at all--the BRZ's windshield and ceiling is way too small for the EyeSight apparatus plus Subaru only puts EyeSight on Automatic cars.

If Toyota and Subaru were serious about having Pre-Collision systems on the twins, they would adapt Toyota's SafetySense system--which have already been integrated with manual-transmissions on vehicles like the iM and Corolla. But, that still doesn't mean they'll put it on the BRZ/86.

The wife's 17 Impreza has it. At first I was all like "oh great more nannies" but after using it for a couple of longish drives I really enjoyed it. That distance maintaining cruise is beautiful.
I call it the Distracted Driver package since it will all but slap you if you do dumb shit..

Ya way to big. From the front it looks like a cop car with lights in the top of the windshield.

I've got Eyesight on my Outback and my wife has it on her Forester. I agree that it would be almost impossible to implement on a BRZ (especially on a manual car).

What I would like, however, is the cross-traffic radar detection. With the BRZ's blind spots, it would be a blessing, and sheet metal saver. Blind spot monitoring would also be nice, but not a must have.

The marketing strategy for these collision avoidance systems always puzzles me. They always depict complete idiots doing stupid things and being saved by the car. For the marketing to be effective, the viewer has to watch that commercial and say, "Golly! I need that, because I'm a fucking moron too!"

I'll be sitting here watching some mindless entertainment when one of those commercials comes on, and I always have an uncontrollable urge to yell, "Dumbass!"

LOL Yep I agree. I have zero use for the lane assist but the cruise, blind spot indicators, and rear obstacle alarm are handy. The auto collision avoidance works very well and is not as intrusive as I thought it would be (I tried it with some boxes like I saw in a video). The sad part is that the people that could use these features the most will just start paying even less attention since the car really does watch out for you. It truly is the distracted driving package and I can see it preventing a pile of accidents. At least until people stop paying any attention at all that is.
