You have a family, right? Not an unreasonable lust in that case.

Yeah, it's those who want the bragging rights of being one of the first owners of a USDM CTR (not exactly sure if I should call that bragging rights).

So I'm catching up on this season's GRC (didn't watch last year's). Why is Subaru sucking that bad?

Because they are trying to keep up with old tech and a small development team. The Subaru GRC team, although backed by Subaru, is actually Vermont Sportcar, a little racing shop in VT. All the other manufacturers: Ford, VW and Honda are all running huge teams with cars based off FIA RX (Europe) and/or WRC. The Ford Fiesta is made by M-Sport, the VW "beetle" is really a Polo R WRC and the Honda is built by Olsbergs MSE, who used to be "RS Ford", same team that built various Fiestas that competed in the FIA WRX and Marcus Gronholm's Focus RS WRC (that couldn't beat Sebastien Loeb's Citreon, but he's a freakish robot).

They are actually steadily doing better. They are killing it right now in Rally America since they don't really have any competition. If you haven't watched the Subaru "Launch Control" youtube series, you should, very good series, although it's basically one huge Subaru commercial.

So why do they keep saying it's Subaru's team instead of a privateer team like some of the Fiestas?

That's a lot of expense for a race shop to run a race team!

Well, technically they ARE Subaru's team (Subaru team USA) and they get funding from Subaru and support from STI engineers etc, just that it's mainly ran by Vermont sports car instead of Subaru itself, but that's only part of the discrepancy. They're having to play "catch up" on development while all the other teams already have that done from their European counter parts.

So basically where VW was 2 or 3 years ago (I forget which year that was when they sucked). Now they're on fire.

Just went for a night drive. Was tired of being stuck indoors and today was an extra long day (got home like 2.5 hours later than usual because of a work function). So I decided just to go driving with the windows down and music on for a while.

Man, I'm glad I have a car now to do this. For me I'm finding I really dislike being in an office all day and then coming home only to sit in a small apartment for 3 hours and then sleep before the cycle goes on again.

Will definitely be doing this more (screw mileage!!).

No, the American Dream is the same thing but you have a house instead of an apartment so you get to do maintenance and yardwork too.

I adjusted my coilovers by making them two clicks closer to stiff (front and back), and aside from the stiffer ride, now my steering feels heavier.

Interesting.
