i'll tell you this....my next door neighbor is a police WOMEN lol and she told me that there's nothing wrong with that third light on the bottom...that it looks stock and police/highway patrols won't bother you for something like that....(but thats what she said...so for those that do get pulled over just say its stock lol)

Silly!

I wonder how much the JDM part costs. I bet it's a drop-in fitment to the USDM cars. Is there an additional switch on the dashboard or is it stalk-controlled?

A good friend of mine with a 370Z US version installed a light like this (since the US has just a plastic piece); 9LEDs that blink a certain ammount of times when the brake is held; I think another forum member here mentioned 6 blinks to make it 'GT' style; honestly they aren't bright at all, even with the LEDs; like you said these cars are so low & the fog light isn't pointed up or anywhere close to the eyes so should be a great looking piece!
Actually, F1 (or GT for that matter) cars don't use blinking brake lights. F1 cars don't even use brake lights at all. The blinking you are thinking of is a byproduct of high-framerate camera equipment. Most brake lights on other non-F1 race cars these days are LED, and LEDs flicker imperceptibly to the human eye (due to pulse modulation in automotive applications), but when filmed on camera, they appear to be blinking.

EDIT: Forgot to add this, but another light you might be thinking of on an F1 car is the bad weather signal, which may appear to be a brake light but is just an actual blinking LED turned on ONLY in poor weather conditions to increase driver visibility to other cars.

The "blinking brake lights" trend that you see on beater civics and other "super pro tunerz" is a byproduct of general ignorance. No offense to you or your friends meant at all (I thought they were pretty cool when I first saw them on Le Mans cars on TV many moons ago...).

On topic though, any chance you can get pictures of the how the wiring was done? I have all the necessary kit to do this myself, minus the wiring diagrams.

which would be an accurate use of the fog light! no silly "flash on braking".

Just so you know flashing headlights (during the day) and brake lights (while braking, day or night) are legal. Some states passed laws specifically making them legal to erase any confusion. They're called modulators and as long as you conform to your state requirements (frequency of pulse), they're legal on both motorcycles AND cars.
