Turbowned makes a strong argument. I however base my opinion of the target audience not as the person the company intended the car to buy but the person who actually buys the product. I see plenty of Tc's, xb's etc around but they're nothing like the person in that image, demographically.

I don't know about where everyone here lives but here in the PacNW,

This guy:

Also to compound my resistance to Subaru (even though I have great respect for the brand) is that I live in the Seattle area and they're EVERYWHERE!!!! Churches are to Utah like Subarus are to the PacNW.

Also, if you want to talk about "Target Audience", I think Subaru created their target audience for most of their lineup on accident. These are the 3 most common stickers I see on the back of a Subaru (ironically also the 3 most common I see on the back of a Prius):

I am by no means denagrading these images, ideologies or people with these view points (as I may or may not share them) but it is an excellent illustration of the manifestation of "target demographics."

I guess I think differently than FTEIGHTSIX because while I think Subaru (like Toyota) is a better nameplate for the car, I just didn't care. It was cheaper than the Suby and it looked better (to me). Done deal.

And in the end, I'm buying a damn good product.

Maybe we need a bit more Shakespeare eh?

Juliet:
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.

Thank you Juliet, maybe I will name my FRS after you. (irony intended)

but the fact of the matter is, Scion owners in general are what i've just describe in my earlier post. rather you like it or not, as a scion owner, you will be view as such. this is something that i am not willing to deal with. on top of that, this is something Scion (company) cannot control, nor do they want to change their image.
quite the contrary, the fact that this car is a scion shows toyota wants to change scions image.

Once again the first crash is due to there being far more FRS on the road than BRZ. If you want to be a "badge whore" that's fine, at least own up to it while you continue to propagate the stereotype.

As for me I'll continue to enjoy my twin no matter what the badge says, or whom else drives one.

Same argument over and over again... (not only from you, but a lot of people in the thread)

Who cares about other people's opinion/facial expression/disinterest in the car??

I'm sure your GF did not buy the car to impress your friends, so who cares if they are not impressed? I'm pretty sure SHE is enjoying it.

This is unrelated to your post but, I can understand when someone says "they could not stand the interiors" that is a legitimate reason to dislike the car. But "because when I say Scion people don't like"..... Really???
