Enkei GTC01RR / Michelin Super Sport
So I am pretty certain on the tires / wheels that I want and doing it the easy way through tirerack for the complete package since I am a noob and will make things less of a hassle.
Their page recommends the following setup and want to see what you guys think. I am on stock suspension and do not really plan on changing that most likely. Front wheels 18x8.5 offset 42 Back wheels 18x9 40mm offset (I could change this to 18x9.5 42mm offset opinions?) ![]() Tirerack is also recommending me the following tires: front 225 40 Rear 255 35 ![]() I want to make sure that my clearance is totally fine, I am normally a spirit driver so still like to drive around but never really go on the track to be honest. Any help will be much appreciated. This setup is what I am kind of going for, clearly suspension change but if I could get as close to this as possible on stock would be amazing. ![]() Thanks! |

Running a staggered setup may induce under steer but if you're not tracking like you said you may be alright. As far as clearance on stock suspension: the front should be okay with the specs provided the rear may rub on the spring perch if you run the 18x9.5 with a 255 tire. 255 is too wide for stock suspension I want to say anything less than a 245 tire should be okay. If anyone else wants to chime in and confirm? BTW the wheels in the picture are RS05rrs. Just FYI

Sure thing man. Anything 9inch wide and nothing lower than a +35 offset as well as staying below a 245 tire should be okay so no worries about that

Check out posts 2 and 3 of this thread. They're charts by wheel size and offset that link to threads of people who have wheels in those sizes on these cars. It is very very useful. You can see what others have done in order to fit a particular wheel or tire size. Pick offsets that have the look you want, but make sure they won't be rubbing anything. Fenders can be rolled and pulled if you want to go that far. Rubbing on the suspension means switching to coilovers (not as big around as springs), spacers (possibly causing you to rub fenders), or you made the wrong wheel choice. Since you're looking at 255's, you also want to review the meaty tire thread. There is a ton of great information there. Staggered looks great, but there's no real performance benefit at OEM or close to OEM power levels. It does induce a little bit of understeer. If you're ok with that trade-off to get the look you want, great. But it's important to know what the trade-offs are before doing it, so you can make an informed decision. If you're performance-oriented, a square setup is almost always better. People normally skip an inch in wheel width. 18x8/18x9, or 18x8.5/18x9.5, that kind of thing. For tire size, you want to skip three sizes, just like your current selection. This is because it will keep the tire's outside diameters very close to each other, which affects ABS and traction control. 215/245, 225/255, and 235/265 are the most common. You can run 225/255 on either an 8/9 combo or an 8.5/9.5 combo. It'll look very lightly pinched on the narrower wheels and very slightly stretched on the wider wheels. There are plenty of examples of staggered wheels in the gallery thread I linked above, so take a look through it and see what you think. Feel free to ask questions. Some of us might just say to search, because it's all been covered before. Others of us will point you in the right direction. Also, that wheel is the Enkei RS05RR. Probably 18x9.5 and 255 square. |
