I've put full tanks of fuel from multiple locations ranging from brand (Shell, Exxon, Sunoco, Sheetz,...etc) and nothing differed with the crickets. Also went thru tanks of non-ethanol vs various levels of ethanol. Shell V-Power seems to run smoothest and with less noise but this is opinion based. The noise is produced because the lubricant breakdown in the fuel pump. Cases say it's because a lower grade of fuel was used at one point, fuel with too much ethanol was used, the octane level wasn't enough...blah. Point being is the lubricant in the fuel pump dissipates creating the noise. I used an STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner on an empty tank then filled the tank up with Shell V-Power 93 Octane. The STP product claimed to lubricate the fuel system and really did reduce the noise for an amount of time but it did come back. Heat, distance driven, fuel used, everything seems to affect this differently. So my question is how to reduce the noise? It's not going away, obviously. This specific piece does not seem to have an exhaust of any sort. Can it be wrapped in a sound deadening material without affecting performance? It would address the sound, not affect any kind of output as there's no exhaust of any sort, and didn't seem to accomidate much heat after miles on miles of use. A potential stupid suggestion but most good ideas are. Also, any aftermarket fuel pump assemblies that fix this? Haven't found much on that. FT-86 SF offers a handful of aftermarket pumps. Curious if any address the crickets.

Yeh we've been through this, it's the plunger seals and the pump housing design aren't compatible with ethanol A pump housing redesign was made if I remember correctly. Ethanol with very warm ambient temps cause the condition. There are a few, maybe 2, DI pumps out there and the cheapest was like $600, so far the data from those on here seem to corroborate that this TSB with this newest HPFP design has resulted in no crickets. Still need more responses but it's looking good so far. Basically if you have the crickets make sure they are audible and bring the car to the dealer for replacement.

my car is only covered in the 1st TSB regarding the fuel pump... since there are newer TSBs for the same issue, are the older TSBs still valid?

Your car qualifies. Cars made after May 2015 and all 2017's have the new pump from the factory, any made before the late 2015 build date qualify. If you hear the crickets you qualify, and are under 60,000 miles.

You should print out the TSB on the OP's post #1 bring it with you. If you don't hear them yet that's cool, if you do the dealer must audibly hear them.
