If anyone still cares.. I spoke to Yamaguchi Soichiro at TAS about the motor. I'm not sure if this was mentioned, I read through the thread pretty quick, but the price of $17K USD isn't just for the kit. This is for labor, materials, and machining. I spoke to him for quite a bit, trying to get more info on the kit and when it would be available in the US. I sent him an email when I got back from TAS, but haven't heard from him yet.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to export such kits because they require high skilled work labor and specialized instruments for the machining. Your best chance is to ship the engine block in Japan and then wait to ship it back to you.
FYI, TODA offers also a 2.3 kit for 800,000 JPY. Unfortunately, they don't provide more details on power output. As for the guys mentioning that a header and a tune could provide similar gains, I would like to see two such cars side by side. Unfortunately, chances are that this thing will never happen. |

As for cost the price on the kits is outrageous + freight duties and taxes.

I wonder how high it spins to. I'm guessing not very high since they increased the stroke...

Not as well as stock. I bet the rod to stroke ratio is well below 1.4

Thoughts on just doing a bore with no added stroke? Good for high revs with a little extra torque? Or bad and why?

I engineered my stroker to retain stock rod to stroke ratio at 2.3 liters

Very nice old school p&p for the win I have always been a fan of the concept of modifying the bore to really change the power band
