Yup! Everything seemed to fall into place. Threw out my application to this other place, then within a week, got the news the Seattle team is getting laid off. 2 weeks later or so, the new place gave me an offer.

Sooooo question.

How am I going to kill 15 hours? Forcing myself to stay up and knock out around 10pm. Guess I'll see if I can do day people things..

I'm so excited for days off tomorrow. Too bad I'm going to a city that isn't home so that I can spend time with my gf and her extended family.

Is there a point in relationships where you're not forced to see your significant other's family? My preferred amount of seeing them is zero.

Yes there is. My wife's parents both died years before I met her. Problem solved.

Beyond that, no. If she's not estranged from her family, then they're a part of her life, however incidentally. Which means that they're a part of your life. This is one of the reasons I'm on my second wife.

It actually can get much worse. Wait until she has to take care of her totally insane elderly mother that refuses to go into a nursing home.
