The bright side of the STi not having more power is that our car's resale value won't tank even more than it already has.

You're acting like someone's trying to add 100 hp to an unmodified 60s vintage VW Beatle
A manufacturer would never increase the engine power output and keep everything else stock. If you add 25-100hp there are some traction issues that need to be solved.

Yeah, and nobody said that. But "adding weight to back" and "something like AWD" are quite vague terms that are too extreme and, in the case of AWD, ridiculous to even consider.

Maybe an alternative would be to increase the length of the axle track and install much bigger rear wheels. I guess they didn't like it, because it would ruin the marvelous handing of the car. A square setup is better.
I agree 100hp is too much but I think 240-250 is possible and manageable. It's just how much investment into suspension tuning and parts tires etc they want to spend. I see the bigger problem is there is not really more power to be had without some serious motor reworking or turbo. We know no turbo and I can't see what benefit reworking motor to 240 would have anywhere else and it would hit mileage.

Maybe it's like that original sti where they had taken 400lbs out? Lol

Plz don't let us down!

11 pages and nobody seems to notice that the wing looks to be on backwards?

Well you don't have too many options. Don't you? Unless, you want to have a car going in certain situations always sideways.

They have toned it down a bit.

Subaru would never do something to undercut the marketed superiority of their flagship WRX STI.

Nah, if it was stripped down almost no one would buy it. They were selling here from '12-'14 a bare bones version and the sell rate to the premium version was something like 1:50. In the end they removed this version, because it didn't make any sense.

The thing that drove me nuts trying to buy one of the Twins this year was just finding one in stock. I went to three Subaru dealerships. Every one of their websites said they had BRZs in stock. Between the three they had one. Not one each. One. It was a lovely BRZ with PP, but not what I was looking for.

You're not going to sell many of what's not on your lot. There are only so many fools like me who come in, plunk down the money and wait for Japan to build you one.

If anything, Japan would get first dibs on any power bumps. That should be a big indicator that we are getting another handling pack (if the engineers constant refusals to acknowledge the power complaints weren't a giveaway).

^not necessarily. We're the car's biggest market by far.

A power modified BRZ, let's say with 250-300 hp, would cope just find with wider rubber under it's fenders. Nothing beyond that is required.
