Best rim+tire combo close to stock?

Hi guys, Looking to get the benefit of lighter rim+wheel combo with factory horsepower and no engine mods - but I dont want to affect things like ride height, speedo, offset diffs. etc. Its going to be a mostly traffic dd car so i dont really need the killer grip from going wider for tracking. What I am really after is just weight savings/efficiency while retaining the cars turning daily-driving comfort and dynamics because its going to be 95% city driven.

1. Will a lightweight 17x7.5 matched with the Michelin Pilot SuperSport 215/45R17 be a very good combo thats the same as stock height and tire size already?
2. Can i stick to the 17x7.5 and stock primacy?
3. Seems hard to come across a lightweight 17x7..

Getting confused about 17x7.5 vs 8 - + a 225 or larger
orr getting a 17x7.5 and sticking to the stock primacy too as an option.

Could you give some suggested lightweight rim+tire brand combos?
Thank you!

It's probably the most common wheel (besides OEM) for these cars and many other cars, but a popular option is Enkei RPF1.

They are a lightweight, track-proven wheel that wouldn't change daily driving comfort (it may even enhance it?).

I believe the 17x8+45 option would be your best bet if you don't want to go wider like the 17x9+35. I may be wrong, but the 8 inch wheels weigh about 15.6 lbs each. Personally, I really dislike the convex face of the spokes on the 17x8+45 sizing. The concave of 17x9+35 looks sleeker, cleaner, and more sporty IMO. I would be running these wheels already if I didn't have my Brembo BBK.

I would also run at least 225/45/17 tire on it, but 215 should be OK. Michelin PSS are a great tire and I would definitely recommend those. Hankook RS-4 (probably a bit overkill for DD, but I love these tires) or Hankook Ventus V12 (not as good, but more budget friendly) are some other options.

Good luck in your search!

17x8 720Form Rims. Cheap, looks amazing, light. Same with Enkei RPF01s but not as good looking imo.

MPSS are too expensive imo and unless you're tracking, it's not worth the money.

+1 to Hankook Ventus V12

ALLEGGERITA HLT are 17x8 +48 and only 15.6lbs

Once I wear out the original tires I am buying these wheels and putting 225/45 17 PSS's on the car

Size-wise, replicate what the JDM-spec BRZ tS has wheel-wise.

17x7.5" or 17x8", +45 to +50 offset.

Tires, no wider than 225/45-17

If you aren't concerned with going wider or need tons of grip and your main goal is simply weight savings, why not just buy a lighter 17x7 wheel with 215/45 tires? That way you're within the same specs are factory and still save some weight at each corner?

Would you know the most popular 17x7 + 215/45 combos for the BRZ?

If I do go with 17x7.5, what are the best 215/45 tire options?

TireRack has two affordable (<$300/ea) 17x7 under 15 pounds...Kosei K4R at 14.0lbs, and Enkei RPF1 at 14.8. 7" is plenty for a 215/45; just choose a tire from an appropriate performance category and it'll likely be even lighter than OEM and still have better response and grip.

Just ordered Konig Hyper grams 17x8 +40. The offset should fit the same as the stock wheels with a 20mm spacer up front making them a perfect fit. Also 16.3 lbs, $600 shipped. Adding Hankook evo2 215/45/17 (stock size) at 19lbs a tire, they may be slighty stretched I will find out. Good for 6.2lbs lighter per corner, great fitment, great price!!

Seems like what I plan to do.
Question though, if i do get either K4R (50mm) or RPF1 (42mm) what are the offset adjustments/things i need to buy so that I can be same as stock +48 offset?

Sorry I dont understand Offset as much!

You dont have to be at the same offset as stock. You can have more or less offset, specially since you are going to a wheel that is 7" as there will be loads of room. Since you are gunning for lightweight, dont add weight back with spacers. Both +42 or +50 offsets will fit no problem, the only difference is +42 will be 8mm more towards the fender than +50. I think +42 will look better, and there isnt a big enough difference to feel any change while driving.

Offset is the relationship of the wheel's mounting surface at the hub, to the wheel's width centerline. In 17x7, +50 would have the wheel tucked 2mm further under the fenders, and +42 would have it sticking 6mm further out, compared to the stock wheel. Those are both pretty close, especially the Kosei, so no need to sweat it from a functional perspective. The +42 might look a tiny bit better, if you're worried about that sort of thing, but honestly you're only talking 8mm difference overall.
