Thanks for the help Manfred. Stock painted spoilers are pretty cheap thankfully.

That conversation did happen, but we couldn't quite come to terms (I was about $15k short )

I can't comment on Koseis, but RPF1s have no issue. Also, both are lighter than the Traklites.

No extended studs here. I ordered the Traklites based on looks, price and relative light weight. Hopefully I don't have any issues.
I've also ordered a Berk muffler delete and am buying some Guy Ankeny Bilsteins and a front bar from a friend. All I need now is a car

All seven cars in DS at the recent NJ Pro Solo were twins. Any particular reason why? Just by chance?

Attendance is just low for the other cars nationally as a whole. It'll change a little next year probably when people figure out which cars are top of the class (it's certainly not the FR-S/BRZ; at least for the pros).

Well, I ended up downgrading from a light STX prep to a full DS prep for this season. Installed Konis, a Strano front bar, new rotors with Hawk HPS 5.0 pads, and picked up a set of Buddy Club P1 SF Challenge wheels. My alignment shop really put in some work to get me FL -1.9° / FR -1.8°, and before anyone says anything I do have the inserts on the Konis. haha Toe is set to 0 in the front and 1/16 in at the rear.
Car felt great at the Chicago Region event this past Sunday. Ran the Konis at 1/2 turn from full soft. Really tight course with a 180°+ turnaround followed by another 180° turnaround right at the start. It was a fairly confusing course visually, particularly at the initial turnarounds and the very end coming into the final gate, but ended up being a fun challenge. I was the only FR-S/BRZ in class for the event. If I remember correctly all the other entries were WRXs with the exception of one E36 M3. After getting used to the new setup in the morning, and kind of remember how to autocross, I ended up having a decent afternoon and snagged 3rd in class. Although just barely, .010 gap to 4th place. 1st and 2nd were both very good drivers in WRXs and had me by 1.3 and over 3 seconds, respectively. But positions 3 through 7 were all within 1 second of each other. I've got a lot to improve on with my driving still, like not overdriving my car so much, but it's looking like this should be a pretty fun season. Autocross the next two weekends too! Here's the one picture of me from last Sunday's event, capturing massive amounts of body roll.

Tire pressure
Hi,
Tire pressure question: I bought some RE71R, and I'd like to know what HOT tire pressure are you running (those who run RE71R)? My car is 100% stock for now. Size is 225/45/17 on RPF1. Second question: The only thing I can play with to influence under/oversteer is tire pressure. On my RSX I would adjust the front pressure to have max grip without rolling on the side, and adjust the rear tire to remove some traction to have less understeer. I'm guessing the same apply for the BRZ; play with the rear pressure. But on my RSX I found something strange. On my RS3 tires, I had to increase pressure to remove grip in the rear, but with the Dunlop Direzza ZII, that didn't work, instead I had to decrease pressure to remove grip in the rear. How do the RE71 behave? Do I have to increase or decrease rear pressure to induce oversteer? Right now with the OEM tire I have good balance on corner entry, but understeer mid-corner, and sometimes also in exit. Thanks |

I would start out at around 32 hot in the front and 28 in the rear. If you want to loosen up the car, add rear tire pressure. I've been as high as 60psi in the rear on the RE71R to make a DS WRX turn ![]() You will probably find yourself a bit loose though and for that, you really need a bigger front sway bar.

Quick question for those with experience of Konis.
I installed them yesterday and was surprised to find that my car did not lower itself by at least half an inch due to the lower gas pressure. In fact, the car is a bit higher in the rear. Could this be because the stock shocks (with 34,000 miles on them) are already a low pressure shock, or am I a complete buffoon? On my NC2 MX5, the Konis lowered the car significantly. The good news is the car rides great with no clunks and squeaks. I double checked the installation about 10 times to make sure everything was seated correctly.
