Love the irony that the OP didn't want to listen to his family and friends so came to a forum full of strangers to ask. Oh wait... came here since he knew most would say "it is your life do as you please and screw everybody else".

I felt alone with that decision, until i came here. I felt the warmth and support with each other. The FT86 Family is wonderful.

That's a lot of assumptions. Ever been on a plane? They say put your mask on first cause you can't help anyone dead. Same concept.

So he should buy a mini van as a single 26 year old and that somehow is better for his family? My word the guy did not say he can't take the kids places or that he needs more space then it has.

Yep! I wasn't condemning there just pointing out that in order to resolve your inner conflict you sought the support of like minded people even if strangers. It can be difficult to go against the advice of your family and peers when you know that even though annoying they actually have what they believe to be the best of intentions.

I highly doubt that you had to resort to the whole "screw you I will do what I want" tactics that keep being brought up here and in the end they supported your well thought through decision. At least I hope that is how it played out since it would be a horrible thing to lose friends and become estranged from family for the sake of a certain car.

Are you really equating a protective device to interpersonal relationships?

Did I ever once say that he should buy a minivan or not buy the car? No I did not.

I am saying that you can not just say "Me fucking first and once I am happy with everything then I will work with others". That is not how society nor families work. If everybody did that then nobody would ever be happy. It is a give and take. He seems to have managed that give and take very well.

Suck it up, embrace where you live, take the good with the bad. As long as you keep moving in a positive direction that's all that really matters at the end of the day.
I think the quoting function is acting a little screwy... you, at least according to what I'm seeing, quoted my rant about selfishness/selfies then wrote the above. Not sure I see the connection.. but when I quoted you, it also quoted an unrelated post by Scrappydo.... soo it probably wasn't you.

However, to address your point above.. I live in an area that gets severe winter, along with beautiful versions of the other three seasons, because I LOVE winter... big time. I love snow and everything about it. I even love to shovel it. For me, it's not a question of "sucking it up" or being stuck in a job that requires me to live here. Heck, I'm pretty much retired... and I'm not moving to an "endless summer" beach burg ever. Don't get me wrong.. I love the ocean, snorkeling, scuba, would love to learn to surf... but please recognize that there are those of us who LOVE winter.

I am not saying give into what everybody tells you I am saying that if everybody puts their own happiness first then nobody will ever be happy since there will no compromise.
