OK, we are off to the Buttered Biscuit to get a wholesome, down home, country breakfast.

Then take a ride (no it's NOT raining today - not yet) in my freshly shine & show wanna be wax job.

mrs humfrz ain't looking much forward to either one ......

"She ain't much fun since I quit drinken"

Maybe I'll dial up the XM country music station on the radio ....... and push her right over the edge .......

I used to feel the same way about country music, but I've changed my mind in the past 20 years. At least, usually, there's a melody, a bit of a story, and not a lot of angry people screaming obscenities. Those three qualities, right there, put it above 99% of the other garbage on the radio.

Got a question...if "indie" rock is so blazingly independent, why does it all sound the same....like some 20 somethings getting together in their garage with a couple out of tune guitars and crappy Behringer gear, whining about how lame everyone else is?

So the big question is; who is the 0.15467936 artist? Korn?

Country music and I have had a long love/hate relationship. Most of "today's Country" is really Pop with a bit of a twang or Southern flair, but like you said, at least it still has some level of story and meaning behind it. I also like a lot of the more traditional Country/Western stuff from the 50's and 60's (that @Tcoat probably distains). I do go for periods though where I have to go back to other genres for a while.

Isn't that pretty much true with anything that is "indie"? Hippies were counter-culture, yet they were all the same. Hipsters do this, ironically. Biker gangs, thugs, they are all standard within their non-standards.

Once something gets big enough to get a name, its no longer unique.

I dunno man...
I miss the days of 90s alternative/rock. I don't really like any of this "new" indie stuff.

From one old fart to another:

Complaining about how current music is not as good as the older stuff is the first step towards yelling:

"Get off my lawn"
