Are you sure it's not just a rattle in the interior? Harmonization is a thing. I have a 2017 too, at certain frequencies and on some road surfaces I hear a rattle in my interior similar to what I heard in your video.

My 2017 is at about 4500 miles.. and has seen 2 track days .

I think you're overreacting, unless the audio reproduction is just shit in your video.

BTW : i listened to your video with audiophile level headphones.

I'll try taking everything out of my car, and running a test drive to make sure I'm not crazy since no one here seems to think I have a car issue ><

Dude, it's brand new, if our suggestions really aren't aligning with your opinion it's time to take it to the dealer.

yeah, i think i'm going to end up taking it to the dealer, get an oil change again, if it don't fix the problem, i'm going to have to tell a tech to ride with me to see if I'm just tripping. Thanks though for your guys help, and hopefully I'm just going crazy.

Try this:
Open glove box
Locate plug in 12 volt socket
Remove plug
Lift carpet at front of passenger foot well
Find round tube sticking up
Push plug into tube
Test drive

Not joking. That sound tube makes the weirdest noise and it is probably even more annoying with the bigger intake in the 17s.

The oil level should not be in the middle of the 2 dots.

I've put over 50,000 miles on her before moving onto this BRZ. I think I will take it to the dealership so they can check it out. Was just hoping someone on here can see what I'm talking about and help me out instead of criticizing how I drive : /
I don't think you had a FRS before that was driven 50k miles. You don't even know what is the normal oil level! If you want to get some help from here, what is the purpose of lying?

Check it with your dealer, because we cannot hear anything weird in your video. And you don't need to change your oil again!!! Read the car's manual, listen your dealer and follow the suggested service intervals from the factory.

Grip the reverse lockout when you pass through those RPMs. Does the rattle disappear?

If it does, theres your problem, go buy the Perrin reverse lockout or any other lockout with an o-ring in it to dampen vibrations.

This is very good advice. Checking oil levels on these boxer engines is a frustrating exercise in guesswork even for mechanics.

Otherwise, I do not hear any untoward noises in the video.

And 6,000 rpm is too high for an engine with only 1,000 miles on it.

And changing the oil at only 1,000 miles was not a good idea.

These engines benefit from leaving the build oil in the crankcase for as long as Subaru says, which I believe is 5,000 miles before the first change.

I don't hear anything unusual in that video. My 2014 made all sorts of noises and rattles during the first few thousand miles. Most of them went away as the parts settled in.

Personally, I wouldn't even take it in for service. I would drive it a while longer to see if the noise got worse or went away on its own.

I just got a oil change at the dealership earlier today but the whirring/grinding noise was coming from inside the left air vents. I'm going to drive it on the highway later today and will hope it won't make the noise again. I'll post a new video if the camera in the inner vents so maybe you guys can hear it better.
