It is nicely done with no silly amount of camber or anything else over the top and then they stuck that bridge span on the back.

Anyone think this is just a normal mod car as I do? All the STi parts are purchasable at dealership. To build this car only need a 2017 PP and a lot of STi parts. The reason they block the front vent may be because there's vent for brake cooling. They block it so the brake can heat up while driving around city. I think this is a mod car. Unless someone can confirm it goes back to Subaru facilities and be covered by Subaru staff.

Nah. Doesn't make any sense to cover that since it is just a PP Brembo kit and the little cooling you would get from city driving would be no issue. They also covered the STi bade and anybody modding to that level isn't going to cover that badge for any reason. It is most likely an US version of the STi that is indeed being driven by Subaru. Exactly what that entails beyond the cosmetics and aero remains to be seen.

it would be kinda fun to order an sti badge, cover it and a few other parts of the car, and drive around to see if the media would report it

if i wanted to test an STi and keep it discreet, i would just omit putting the badge on the test car in the first place

I'm pretty sure Subaru knew it would get spotted by the public. It's great free publicity and gets people talking.

Yep! If anybody believes that these "spy" photos that get passed around were not intentionally set up or at least allowed to happen they are in a dream world. If they really wanted to keep the car under wraps it would be hidden away.

My favorite is the prototype camouflage wrap to really throw off everyone!

I like this line from the article:

"Being trustworthy is the number one rule in this industry, so the manufacturers are digging deep with the background checks, while the people involved can't really talk about their jobs even to their families."

This is why I so strongly rant when people believe some clickbait where the "reporter" (I use this term loosely) states that info came from "a source close to..." or something like that. Those that really know can't and won't say so if there is indeed somebody saying something odds are they don't have a clue what they are talking about or it is pure speculation not fact.

Lol....I usually drive cars before I buy them so one thinks they are underpowered, why did you buy it?

Aero stuff kinda comes into play at speeds way ABOVE most speed limits unless you track on an open course, they only create drag and decrease economy.

I bought it for the lateral G capabilities because that's kinda fun. Not round-a-bout or entrance ramp play but scrubbing down sidewall at 38psi fun.

Just sayin'

I can tell you for certain that I did not buy this car for its power. 175hp in a 2800lbs car isn't slow, but it's not fast either.
