NITROUS???
Alright.. Looking for some feedback.
Asides from numerous Fast And The Furious references.lol Any one on here running the NX Throttle body Injection Kit, or something similar? I have been researching for a few months now. I just want the extra boost for the highway when v8s, or turbo/SC cars try to intimidate. In those situations I'd like to be able to hold my own. Some day wayy down the road I prob will go FI, but that is not going to be anytime soon. This is something that I think would be fun, cool, and different. From my research I would stick with the 50 shot. Mainly due to it being safe, and not requiring fuel upgrades/spark plugs/ect.. I currently have a Berk catback setup, and will be ordering the header/over/front pipe tonight as well to complete the exhaust. I have a perrin inlet tube for my intake as well as a k and drop in filter. And iv'e already purchased my Ecutek, and can set up to get my custom tune done anytime I want now. I'm just trying to collect all my parts and install them before I do so. I really think I'd like to add a 50 shot into this set up for when the situation calls for it. But I want to have all the supporting mods to make it as safe as possible. So if there is anyone here who uses this kit.. something similar.. or just has experience with nitrous in general. I would appreciate your feed back! Thanks. |

You're still going to lose against V6s, V8s, tc/ss, etc lol.
Get a wet kit, stay away from dry. Running 1 or 2 step colder plugs is also recommended.

This article is very useful. It shows how useful the stuff can be for getting torque out of our motors which SC/TC don't do very well when it comes to HP:TQ ratio. I definitely recommend running a window switch which only allows the nitrous to be active while the RPM's are in a certain range. In the article they set it at 7100 RPM because it would deactivate before the limiter which is very very important. Another thread on here the guy blew his motor solely because he didn't have a window switch and it went lean at the limiter and the dyno operator couldn't let off the gas fast enough to save it. Also get a bottle warmer unless you want to be running the bottle under hot water every chilly day you have. I have yet to use nitrous on my setup but am very curious about it as it can yield good increases on a stock car so I would be curious to see what I could do with UEL headers and E85.

Here's a good read
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5018 Speed Hunters used Nitrous Oxide on their build http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/04/...ing-performer/ Edit: Nitrous express has a kit out. It may be worth talking to them http://www.nitrousexpress.com/20960-...lb-bottle.html Last edited by new2subaru; 05-24-2017 at 07:21 PM. |

That might be a better idea... In my experience, anyone who labels themselves a "BadMOFO" isn't... not even remotely. The baddest dudes, and I know a couple, are almost w/out question softspoken, unassuming, and definitely do not advertise or flaunt their badness. Seriously, feel free to explore NO2 for the fun of it.. you'll get no flack from me for it. However, your motivation... THAT I'll question. Be safe out there..

1) Stop being a douche on the highway
2) A 50 shot isn't going to help keep up, you're just going to be throwing that money out of the window. Even a low boost turbo or supercharged FRS/BRZ is going to be running about 75-100whp over stock In almost any place in North America it's illegal to have the nitrous bottle open on the road, and the valve has to be out of reach of the driver.

N2O is for race cars. as has been said a 50 shot isn't going to do all that much. i think it's pretty safe to say that all of us here love this car but we also have to accept it's limitations. if you want to run against v8's just save your cash for a 2j or ls swap.

I haven't used the NX plate kit but if I was still going Nitrous, I would be using it.
Make sure you run a window switch as a lot of people have said. I'd run a window switch and throttle position sensor through an auxiliary control module such as the Garage 7 IPC unit. I'd honestly go a little higher than 50hp shot. It's easy enough to do, and you'll NEED to log AFR when you're hitting nitrous to make sure your kit is adding enough/not too much fuel with the nitrous. Changing spark plugs would be the hardest job. Maybe reduce timing by 2 deg on WOT. I'd be running a different map for Nitrous on EcuTek. Properly set up nitrous isn't cheap. Window switch, pressure gauge, purge system, wiring, bottle heater. All are essential for a safe running Nitrous system and all will run you quite high in price. |

It might be cheaper and more reliable to have a 3 litre 13000rpm 8 cylinder jun/yamaha boxer conversion.
But either way , it would be pain full , trying to make it street legal and losing "fun to drive". |

Enjoying the feedback so far? I am.
Here's something I've found really helpful for relieving stress: Because internet.
