Maybe not as loud but will be a raspy and annoying sound with no resonator or muffler. Do not expect a nice subtle rumble.

Resonator is a muffler. In this case it's a glass pack style muffler being used as a resonator.

I would say a muffler quiets the db level of an exhaust while a resonator tunes the noise since they have less baffling and do not re-route the gases in any way.

Tuning the exhaust can have as much perceived effect as quieting it though. Much of what people think of as volume is more related to tone. A deep sounding exhaust pushing exactly the same decibels as a higher pitched one can sound way louder.

So the only difference with a resonator and non resonator is that you get a more raspy sound when theres none on there right? I think thats what Tcoat said.

Been looking on a few resonators and found cherry bomb, got any experience with them?

For the most part, yes, it will lesson the rasp. Cherry Bombs have been around for decades, my neighbor has used them on his Camaro and it sounded decent. I haven't seen anyone using them on here though.

A resonator is not a muffler. It does not muffle sound much and will have a minimal effect on sound level.

It changes the tone of the exhaust by cutting off some higher tones. That's how it kills rasp. No resonators- sounds like raspy shit. If you want louder, go with a bigger catback, but if you go too big, it's bad for performance.

If you want a deep tone to your exhaust, you need resonators.

I have a cherry bomb in my mid pipe and i like the sound a lot. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n3pgL9czCc"]myexhaust86 - YouTube[/ame]

Why not just build your exhaust from the resonator back instead of the cat back? Save you a pile of grief and potently failed experiments.

I ran cherry bombs with custom headers and straight pipes on my 70 Coronet R/T 440 magnum. You guys have never heard loud! Got sick of getting pulled over though so threw some mufflers on for street use and just pulled them when at the strip.

Reasons to why I have to do what I have to do is because we have 2 places where you can release the bolts without cutting in the original exhaust system.

Here is a image of what I mean:

1) is the end muffler, I can't build anything decent here cause there is no space
2) is the resonator, this is the only possibility that I have if I want to build it in my way.
