New 86 owner

Hi, I just bought a 2017 Toyota 86 Hallo White, stick. I am 59 years young, and this will be my DD. I have owned more cars than I can count. I already have a Magnaflow exhaust, and the TRD springs, plus the TRD air intake box on order. I also have the center console lid with silver stitching to be installed along with a parking brake boot with silver stitching as well. This is a great car. It was between this and a BRZ. After visiting two Subaru dealers and calling a few more, it became obvious that they were not interested in selling me a car. I could not get them to call me back or show me the time of day, so I went to the local Toyota dealer and they could not have been nicer and more professional and communicative.
I will post some pics once all the parts are installed.

Ron

Welcome to the family! Any particular reason for going with the TRD intake?

Probably because it's arguably the best intake for these cars.

Most reputable tuners say aftermarket intakes are a waste of money and that the stock and TRD boxes (which are basically pretty similar) are the best bet with a drop-in.

I just like to stay with factory stuff, so My warranty is ok. Plus there was a pricing mix up on the air box. I got it for under $100 compete.

That's also another good reason. The TRD box with a tune is definitely one of the best options. I work at a Subaru and a lot of employees with BRZs get their's tuned at the same shop and the owner who's been playing with these cars since they came out said the stock airbox with a drop-in is the best option. So an aftermarket intake is basically just for if you like the look.

Just got a halo 86 welcome to the club. Finished wrapping my center console with alcantara to match the other bits. Looking for the lid as well with silver stitching?

That's my assumption. The website specifies LHD though so I'm sure they will ship the correct one.

Ok, my order came in from TRD at the dealer. The intake air box, is not available. It is just a drop in performance air filter. I Told the parts guy that there internal web site is very misleading. It clearly says that the air box and filter are included. He said Toyota is aware of the problem, they have had numerous complaints. I did get the Magnaflow exhaust installed today. It sounds great!
