Back-in-the-day, we had just moved into a new house in California and I was dragging my feet on landscaping the back yard. So, I was on a two week business trip to Canada, when my (now ex) wife contracted to have a 20'x40' free form, in ground, swimming pool installed in the back yard.

I had ALWAYS done my own electrical work ...... except for this pool, because they had to get electrical and plumbing permits.

When the county plumbing inspector came to inspect the plumbing, I let him to the back yard through the garage.

He looked around my garage and strongly suggested that I NOT let the electrical inspector go through my garage .......

(you see, I figured that installing conduit pipe was time consuming and costly ....... and romex was costly and overkill ....... extension cords were cheap and easy)

Seems legit

This is my 28th year living in Toronto. Sad to say this city has really become a toilet over the years especially as of late. People are rude as hell and beggars everywhere. Even the cops just shot a stray bear dead near my hood last night instead of tranquilizing and sending it to the zoo.

Crazy to see how clean it was back in the day.

Anyone have a good "crash course" (and supplemental material once that is understood) on electronics?

I know the super basics but that's it.

If they sent every stray bear to the zoo they would have no room for anything else. Relocating doesn't usually work either since once they find food in populated areas they just keep coming back. Sounds cruel but the reality of it is that it is better the bear than a small child that ends up dead.

Our subway system is pure trash. The tracks are hardly sharpen and loud as fuck. They still have people hired to sit on a chair just to see you put in a paper ticket or token into a collector at the stations.

When I lived in Hong Kong in the 80's we already had an American magnetic stripe card system for the subway, and later on adopted the French proximity card system in the mid 90's.

NYC and Munich are the best city subway systems I have ever been on.

Oh, I feel sorry for the poor bears. We have encroached on their feeding grounds with our housing developments.

Just yesterday, I read of three sightings of a black bear(s) at our subdivision clubhouse grounds (about 1/4 mile away).

Now, if it (they) decide to come in my backyard, where my granddaughters play, I will let my .30-30 Winchester do the talking and then call Fish & Game to come get the dead bear(s) carcass(s) out of my yard.

Poor bears.

Well, yes, plug it in ..... turn it ON, if it doesn't work, pound on the case ..... if it still doesn't work, toss it and buy a new one.

See how simple that is ....

It's good enough to get me to the distillery district, though I still need to get onto a bus or streetcar. My problem with the transit in Toronto is the people who use it. So many awful people.
