The steering and handling. The AWD makes it different but the handling response is very close. It is nothing at all like the prior gens.

Sounds like maybe some of the R&D Subaru did for the BRZ is being passed down to their mainstream models like the Impreza. And that's awesome. Makes me want to test drive one with the 5 speed manual lol.

It's too bad Toyota isn't doing the same to make their Corolla drive more like an 86. And the irony is the original AE86 was a Corolla.

Drive one and let me know if you agree. Hers has the CVT but I did test drive a MT and it was a blast. The common complaint of "not enough hp" will probably come up from some but the car is built as a fun grocery getter. They will address the HP (I had no issues with it) when they use the platform for the performance versions.

It is funny because one of the complaints on the Impreza forum is that the steering is too sensitive. Most there seem to think that you should have to force the car to turn.

When I went to the initial training for the 2017 Impreza, the product trainers kept referring to the BRZ as inspiration for the Impreza's handling dynamics, most notably steering made evident by the carrying over the 13:1 steering ratio from BRZ to Impreza, so I wouldn't be surprised if what you said was true.

Also I occasionally drive the 5MT and they are nice but I cannot stand the Rev Hang especially going in to 2nd gear, the reva just don't drop when you want them too, and a lot of my customers who test drive say the same thing but I just keep quiet...

Hey Vtec, I get your point. But lots of people have had other cars that just feel faster in a straight line. I own both a 16 BRZ (Stock) and an 04 WRX (Stage 2, many suspension mods). It is slower than the WRX but it has better steering, braking, less body roll and its more fun because the rear comes out a bit. Its just the torque dip that takes something from the car. Low end torque for daily driving is fun. It is not a slow car but it is slower.

The BRZ feels like a go-kart. The WRX is really a turboed econobox that can be made to do some great things. I love them both. Reduce the torque dip and wind that thing out and trust me its fun for anyone, especially in some twisties.
