Seriously though. You'll get no love here. You'll get some CNN talking points thrown at you then they will say, "well we can't discuss politics"

Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
I'm not looking for love, although polite good-natured camaraderie even when disagreeing would be swell. I would LOVE to keep politics off this forum. I don't think I was the one who introduced politics into a thread sub-tangent about beer... but the assertion that drinking/enjoying Bud Light and voting for President Trump both, somehow, equate with bad taste (unless I'm misinterpreting Andrew's post?) needed a response.

I can't stand Bud Light. It doesn't mean that those who enjoy Bud Light are wrong or stupid, it just means that we don't agree on what makes a good beer. The same axiom applies to one's political beliefs; it's not a question of bad taste or a lack of intelligence, it's a question of different priorities. In the long run, I'd like to think that those who disagree with me politically DO agree on long-term goals; an efficient government, stable, robust economy, equal opportunity for all citizens, an efficient reasonable path to citizenship for those who desire to become American citizens legally, freedom from undue government intervention in our lives and personal decisions, protection from violent acts from without and from within... all the stuff our country was founded upon. What we disagree on is how to get there. That's OK!! I simply don't understand why there is SO much animosity towards those whose views differ. I don't share that animosity. I thought that one of the tenets of those who label themselves as progressive, liberal, or Democrats was freedom of speech, thought, and tolerance. Why does that only seem to apply if the speech and thought agrees with their platform?

I have no axe to grind, and certainly don't feel the need to convert or recruit anyone else into agreeing with me. Diversity of constructive thought is how problems are solved and progress is made. If that makes me unintelligent or incapable of good taste, so be it.

It's Miller time.... <grin>..

Best to you all,

Barry

Like Ashi said... Politics is a no no on here for some reason.
It's a no no for a GREAT reason. I wish you hadn't brought it up in the first place. Back to our regularly scheduled funfest.. no hard feelings.

Here's to ya! I had a Pabst yesterday after mowing the lawn. It actually tasted pretty good for the 15 seconds or so that it lasted...

Philistine!

Beer is no longer considered good unless it has been infused with the essence of pine cones that have been slowly digested by an African aardvark and strained through the finest of whale baleen filters by some man-bun sporting dude in a micro craft brewery.

Wow. My whole 12 week psych and conflict resolution courses wrapped up in 5 minutes of reading. I could have saved a pile of time and money.

Reinheitsgebot for me... barley, hops, water, and yeast. OK... I enjoy the occasional use of rye (both as a grain used in making the beer, or in a small glass NEXT to the beer ), but other than that I almost universally get put off by any other adjuncts, especially rice.

and... "man-bun" ..... sigh... such shudder ...

I will only drink beer brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot

One pine cone and it's not beer anymore.
