Well the only thing I was aware of in terms of outsourcing abroad back during that time was watchmaking. American watchemaking was supposedly the best in the world but proven too expensive hence outsourced to the Swiss.

And of cuz the import of foreign labor for example the Chinese being crazy enough to build the railroad.

After your tour of the plant the other day a rumour went through the place like wildfire that you were a MOL Inspector and that we were in big trouble because we turned the furnaces off and it was only 19 degrees in the building instead of the 21 that somebody arbitrarily decided was the legal "requirement" (it is 16 by the way). By the next morning the story had developed to the point where we were being fined $10,000 and charges were laid against the Plant Manager. I had a blast running wit that one for a while.
