Probably the most simple of install videos, but here goes

Please note that the drop-in air filter is different on the US 2017 MT cars. The 2017 AT car is the same as all the other US model years.

2017 MT drop-in Blitz air filter

Drop-in K&N air filter for all other twins (not 2017 MT)

K&N or Blitz - Blitz seems to provide a tiny bit more WHP, but K&N seems to be better in the longer run, does anyone have any experience with using drop in air filters

A drop-in-filter is mainly for improving the response of the engine. There were some dynos that gave a few extra whp. Personally, I would take them with a grain of salt.

You wont notice any difference unless you were to toss the car on the dyno. Even then, the difference could be the error with in the dyno. IE +-1whp.

The general consensus on here is K&N filter and aftermarket inlet tube; search around, the topic has been discussed to death.

Personally, I went for sound (and some heat-soak) and got the K&N Typhoon SRI (couldn't pass up a good deal). The sound is amazing, overpowers my exhaust even.

Ok, seems like K&N.......your talking to a guy who very sensitive to the power increase. Installing in LED lights has already seen some slight power increase.

Yea, K&N is pretty much the default. Like others said, you probably won't notice anything just throwing in the filter. I think this benefits most from other complimentary bolt-ons, so if you have I/H/E you will see the benefits from them all together, not just 1 installed randomly.

Im planning on getting a K&N filter and Tube intake and that will be a nice small upgrade, seems easy from the youtube video.

This is what route I went too, the sound is so much better than a stock intake. With the amount of air moving thru the intake at speed I very much doubt heat soak is an issue.

Why do you guys change the drop-in filter for sound and not the exhaust? It is a bit silly to take a risk and not filter correctly the incoming air, especially when there are much better alternatives.

1. It's less than $50 and it lasts for years. It pretty much pays for itself after the third wash.
2. The only risk you have is how much oil you put on. Or not washing it properly.

3. Yeah there are alternatives out there. All within the same price range. Would I prefer not to wash, dry, and re-oil it every time? Yep but pretty much why I got a K&N was it's like $45 at Walmart. And the re-oil kits are cheap enough, and last 3-4 washes.

The good thing about drop in filters is that even if you like it, it's not that much to try something different.

Thanks for this. Just a manual 86 and have trouble finding a filter. Looks like K&N doesn't have one according to their main page.

Already cut the front funnel open. Have a new intake tube that keeps the stock resonator, plan to cap off the cabin tube. Just need the filter to finish it off.
